can you put people in groups for reports and resource reporting

2012年5月8日 3:04Can you assign a person to a group/etc. and be able to do resource reports on a group? In other words, not really assigning people to groups for task assignment (although that is fine if it does not impact ability to still assign people individualy to tasks) but assigning to a group so that when you go to the resource availability screen/reports in project server 2010, you can just select a group for reporting? Is this something that has to be done individually or through pools? Just trying to see how I can set up in PWA the ability for managers to quickly pull up their groups for reports.

Hi Cletus51,
If I understand correctly, You want to look at the resource availability reports in project server 2010.
You may try like:
1. Create a Resource level Custom field like ResGroup with lookup value Group 1, Group 2, etc
2. while settings up the resource in PWA, You can have the field value setup for a resource (You can do that in bulk using MS Project for all existing resource)
3. PWA> Server settings> Manage Views> Resource center, Create a View which filters on Group1, 2 etc & save it. as Group1-Resources, Group2-Resource etc.
4. A Project Manager Can select the view from Resource center grid , header top row left side (select all), which selects all resource of the Group View
5. Click on Resource availability & view the report for all selected resources of the Group1, 2 etc.
Does that helps?

2012年5月8日 13:30forgive my ignorance here but when you say custom field (new at pwa), can you point me to something that tells me how to do this? I've noticed Group within the resource. Are you saying put some sort of identified in there or is this a field you have to add to the actual resource record?

Hi there--
No problem!! Good to know that you started with EPM.
You can create a lookup table & Resource level custom fields using PWA> Server settings> Enterprise custom fields & lookup table
Here are two articles for the same:
