When using Songsmith, you pick a tempo and style before you sing, so the only thing you should hear when you sing is a drum beat that works for you. You can change the style after you create your song, so the style on matters while you're first recording
in the sense that you want to sing along with a drum beat that "feels right".
Once you've recorded your song, Songsmith will add chords. At this point you can adjust the "happy" and "jazzy" sliders to play with the chords, or change the style. If you play with things for a bit and you think Songsmith really didn't "hear"
you, then consider clearing everything and recording again.

Hope that helps!
