Support Code:86000107
- When I am trying to sync my smartphone w/ Outlook 2007, I get an error "Activesync encountered a problem on the desktop, Support code:86000107". Any idea what I need to do to resolve?
回答
I had an interesting occurance today HieroGLFX, I had this same error occur with one of my devices. Of course I looked on the forums to find a solution and I saw none.
So what I did was to remove the partnership from both my device and PC. Soft reset my device, rebooted my PC and connected. I established a new partnership and it has sync'd successfully twice today. So I am assuming all will be fine.
Try it ... it should work.
So this thread has been going on for a long time and frankly there has been some great discussion (and some not so great) but it has been a topic that has sparked an interest. I searched for solutions and asked for help from other moderators. There just was nothing available to lead us to a resolution so I decided to reach out to a contact at Microsoft to ask for help and we have a solution folks!!
Here is the text of the email I recieved today. I hope it helps all those that have been affected. Please understand that fixes are provided to the OEMs and they in turn distribute.
This is a known issue and was fixed in AKU 1.2. The customer would need to contact the OEM to see if they are providing the fix.
Action:
Customer upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.1
Customer normally sync's with two PC's and when trying to sync with the second PC sync fails.
Results:
Error code 86000107
Sync fails
Cause:
The issue is talking about deleting more than 100 contacts. However, it’s not specific to the delete operation. As long as there are more than 100 changes in one data type to be synced to the desktop, you can hit this issue.
Resolution:
The fix is available to the OEM's (device manufactures) and the customer will need to contact them to see if they have an update available.

- I can not find that code anywhere. Are you sure you entered the number correctly?
- It's got to be one of the items you're trying to sync that is the problem. To narrow the problem down, remove whatever you're synching, (Email, contacts, calendar Tasks) and add them back one at a time until you get the error again.
- I am encountering the same error. Have narrowed down to "Tasks/To-do". My device will sync with my desktop running XP/Office 2007, but not with Vista Home Premium/Office 2007.
- Have you upgraded Device Center to version 6.1? If not, try downloading it from Microsoft website. Also, try configuring tasks to synchronize all Tasks instead of incomplete Tasks only. Let me know if this helps.
I have the same issue. After synching with my Vista based Desktop, I'm receiving this error when synching with my XP based laptop. I fixed this issue by reinstalling ActiveSync 4.5 on my XP based laptop.
This issue has came back when synching with my XP based laptop, after synching with my Vista Desktop and I don't want to re-install Active Sync everytime this happens.

- Had the same error code with my 6.1 smartphone and a system with Office XP/2003, Windows XP Pro and Activesync 4.5. Went into options and deselected all items that were being synced. Added them back one at a time and let it sync each time. All work fine now and no errors popping up.
Cool! Thanks for posting that info....Fru_pcc wrote: This works!!!
BdeS wrote: I finally solved the problem by going into the relationship and unchecking all the sync folders, then adding them back in one at a time. For some reason my tasks folder is what causes the problem, however I've not found a way to fix that. But the sync is now working; leaving the tasks unchecked. I have to do this EVERYTIME i sync my pocket pc (W.M 6.1) to my work laptop (XP SP2) and home pc (XP SP2). I have never had this issue on WM 6 and when i upgraded my device to W.M 6.1, i start to see this issue.
It is very frustating and rendering my pocket pc from a productivity tool to a liability !
Does anyone know if Microsoft folks are looking into this?
still no resolution .. strangly, this problem hasn't blown up the way I think it would be ... basically it has render my ppc totally useless..

to be honest, i didn't. the WM6.1 device that i just bought was jus a few days old before i encounter this problem. I will give it another try tough. No harm trying again.

You could create another PST file and migrate your data. See Microsoft KB article 305544 for details on how to do this.
Doesn't work. Have tried it before as well.
this is the reply i got from microsoft support. I bet HTC is going to point me to Microsoft Support
Quote"
Windows Mobile is being distributed by mobile device manufacturers. If a product or software is pre-installed or distributed with your mobile device, your primary source for support is the device manufacturer who provided your Microsoft software. You may contact your mobile device manufacturer for any warranty or no-charge support
- Interestingly enough, I would expect that because the device manufacturors often adapt the "core program" for their devices. Although that does not help with the immediate issue....
i email the support team back, informing them that this problem is happening across all hardware devices with WM6.1 and what can be done by Microsoft to resolve this.
bascially the gist of what i got is that they will feedback this to the development team and thank you for my feedback.
so they are just saying, too bad dude, you bought WM6.1 device, sorry you got screwed.
ZhiX wrote: bascially the gist of what i got is that they will feedback this to the development team and thank you for my feedback.

I am convinced that it will go to the dev team and if it is occuring on a lot of devices, they will address it. It still may be an issue that was caused by the device maker which will not be addressed by Microsoft but rather the device makers dev team.
- I am not sync to two PC, but 1 PC and Windows Live for contacts Uncheck and recheck the sync of contacts in activesync solve the complaint of sync issue. But it will re-appear just a matter of time. It's just very frustrating!!
- I agree Jack ... it can be very frustrating. At least it is a temp solution and hopefully we might find a user that has a more permanent solution (or maybe a fix from Microsoft)
frankly the temp solution doesn't really sync .. it just duplicates everything on both PCs. It's even worst then not syncing since it messes up all the data in duplicates.
i'm given up trying on sync on the 2nd PC and doing entries into my ppc manually, VERY INEFFICIENT. If i miss any entries, i will have lost a contact or worst, miss an appointment.
I am quite surprised that this issue has not blown up in microsoft's face as it should. This is one of the key features of activesync and it is thus far NOT WORKING at all.
I'm currently engaging with HTC support but no luck thus far.
I suppose that is a ActiveSync Problem. I had something like that, but the error code was other.
Try to insert this key in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000I also tried this, no success.
My problem occured recently when upgrading my HTC TyNT II from Windows Mobile 6.0 to 6.1. Now I can only sync with one of my computers (both with XP, one with outlook 2003 the other with outlook 2007, activesync 4.5). When I try with the other, I get the message ending with "Support Code 86000107". I can keep the partnership, but has to delete all sync-items besides "files", it is not enough to delete tasks, also e-mails, calendar, notes has to be deleted.
If do this, and the re-establish the items, then sync works fine - but then the error moves to the other machine, and the procedure has to be repeated there.
So now I can only syncronise with one computer, thus making my HTC more or less useless. Since the upgrade to WM 6.1 is the only new thing, it must be the cause, but I understand that Microsoft has no intention to go into the matter?

- Are there any news concerning this problem?
I get the same Error Code, when syncing HTC Diamond with my 2 PCs. Both run with Vista 32 and 64bit and Outlook 2007.
Thanks
Klammerfranz - What happens if you delete the partnerships from the two PCs and the device then re-establish a new partnerships.
- Deleted both partnerships on both PCs and device.
1) Sync contacts + agenda works for pc#1
2) Sync contacts + agenda works for pc#2
3) next time Sync with pc#1 brings error 86000107
only solution is to delete both partnerships and sync again
but this is not practical...
do you have any ideas?
thanks
klammerfranz - I wish I had the solution! I did see a comment from another user in a different forum who indicated that he spent a number of hours also trying to fix this. It ended up being a blank (corrupted) data record in his contacts folder at the top of the list. He deleted the record and all synched.
Just as a thought, do you want to try this just to see if it works? There was mention somewhere that a possible cause might be ringtone assignment. Do you have individual ringtones assigned to any contacts?
If so, maybe this might help:
-
Uncheck 'contacts' in synchronization options. This will delete your contacts on your device as well as your individual assignments of ringtones to contacts.
- Confirm Deletion.
- Synchronize without having 'contacts' checked. Now everything could work fine.
- Check the option 'contacts' again.
- Synchronize having 'contacts' checked.

I exactly the same problem as ZhiX does. I have to clean sync my PPC every time i change my location from home to office - and it's very irritating. My device is QTEK9100 (HTC Wizard)
What I did was delete all the elationships I had with active since and then started them again and mine worked fine.
I have...................
MDA Vario
MDA Vario 3
MDA comapct 3
MDA compact 4
and they are all fine
It works fine until you change your active sync PC.
I'm doing it at home (refresh relationship) - it works fine for home PC (WinXP), then i come to office, try to sync this PPC with office PC(WinVista) by Windows Mobile Device Center - error.
I delete all sync items and then check it again - and all the day it syncing fine with office PC. But when i return home and trying it with home ActiveSync - the same *** - error.
It's kind of a switcher in WM6.1 syncronization which can adapt to single PC only.
still no solution as of today. I just upgrade my laptop to Vista and still face the same problem.
i am quite surprised that until now, no official news from Windows Mobile on this issue.
it's either they do not know that there is issue or they are just ignoring it until WM7.
Either way, this is seriously pissing me off. My WM device is supposed to make me more efficient at organsising my work and personal life.I have upgraded my Sprint Mogul to WM 6.1 my laptop has Vista Business and my desktop has XP Pro sp 3. I am having the same problems, I cannot sync between the two computers. Microsoft does it again.
I recently upgraded my HTC Tytn-II to windows mobile 6.1 and have no end of problems with this error. I sync between my home PC (using Office 2007 & Windows XP) and my work PC (using Office 2003 & Windows XP).
Having searched for solutions online I have tried many "solutions" such as
-
De-selecting all the activesync options and then re-selecting them one by one
-
Creating a new PST file on both computers & setting that as the default - deleting all partnerships (on both the PCs and the phone) - re-sync'ing and then importing the old PST file so I don't lose all my personal email folders and finally deleting the old PST
-
Doing the above and then hard reseting the phone and starting again
-
Re-flashed the ROM again
However every single "solution" has failed when I have tried to sync between the two PCs. Hence why I have come to the Microsoft site in the hope someone has a definitive solution.
I should add that when I went back to windows mobile 6.0 I have had no such problems which leaves me to conclude that the issue is created by windows mobile 6.1.
Any help on this from those in the know would be most helpful as I am considering dumping the windows mobile format and going for an alternative phone and OS.

Hello,
I have got the same Problem on my HTC Diamond. I think I have tried eveything. I also completely reinstalled my computers, downgraded them to Windows XP, flashed the newest Rom (also WM 6.1) to the Diamond.
Still got that Problem. I called HTC. They told me to contact Microsoft as it is their Software. Microsoft told me to call the manufacturtrer oft my PDA. If I asked them this would be premium support which costs 299 EUR.
Then they told me to visit Microsoft support communities.......
It really is frustrating!!!!!!!!
Alex
- AHHH. thank you all so much for this forum. I've been beating my head into the monitor for ten days troubleshooting this. For now, i'm just relieved to know that it's not me.
I tried all these fixes (many, many times), i then stripped the drives bare and rebuilt...same problems. This may be the only time in recent months i wish i had an iphone. if anyone is interested, this is the reply i got from HTC Singapore.

Thanks for that update Zhix
I only sync with one PC but sync either through a cable or bluetooth depending on where I am. Recently upgraded to WM6.1 and have had this problem for about a week. Everything would sync and work fine as long as I didn't change anything on the PPC - Twice this week I reviewed hundreds of emails on my PPC and only after reviewing and trying to reply would I get this error. Tried all the remedies on the web - delete partnerships, turn off items one at a time, etc. No luck - Today I turned off HTML email on my PPC and thus far I've been able to sync successfully for a couple hours editing both on the laptop and on the phone without getting an 86000107 error. Seems to make sense since I believe one of the updates to WM6.1 had to do with HTML email. Will continue to work with HTML email off for a couple days and see if the error code is gone for good.
All I sync (between two computers - both running XP - one running Office 2007 & the other running Office 2003) is my contacts, my calendar and my notes. I do not sync to any exchange servers and would expect that such a basic sync would work. This is a problem with windows mobile 6.1 ROMs as I have no problems with windows mobile 6.0.
Can someone in Microsoft prevent me from dumping the OS and related phones by finding a final solution to this damn annoying error?
- Same problem here. I just upgraded my HTC device to Windows Mobile 6.1, and it worked OK with my XP laptop. Took it home, synced with my Vista laptop and got error, then all of my Contacts were missing from the phone and most of my desktop icons on my laptop had a weird icon over the top of them like a little notebook or something. Never got it to work right. Came to work back to my XP laptop, now I get this 86000107 support code errer and I noticed that two items I just put in my calendar today didn't show up in Outlook. Very frustrating. I'm not sure I like WM 6.1. The only thing I like is the text message strings.
I hope there is a fix soon. - I also am having the same issues since upgrading to 6.1, and have also spent hours on numerous forums and tried all of the solutions. Is this a problem with WM6.1? Are there any new solutions besides deleting relationships, new .pst files, checking items one by one?
Robert Ornelas wrote: I also am having the same issues since upgrading to 6.1, and have also spent hours on numerous forums and tried all of the solutions. Is this a problem with WM6.1? Are there any new solutions besides deleting relationships, new .pst files, checking items one by one? Like yourself I have tried all the same so-called solutions (even did a hard reset on the phone) and nothing has solved this now long standing problem.
My contract expires at the end of next month & if a final solution hasn't been released by Microsoft then I will be jumping the Windows Mobile ship and finding an alternative that does what activesync should do (and does do under previous windows mobile OS')
I am also ready dump my Mogul and Microsoft WM 6.1. It appears that both HTC and Microsoft does not give a dam that we are having a problem, they only want to sell software and products.
- Same to me, I had several PDAs before I got HTC Diamond running WM 6.1 (previous ones OS were older) and all of them synced properly with two desktops, even mixing Vista and Win 2000 (with outlook and Exchange), now I have this problem and it is impossible to get sync my data on my desktop at job and my personal pc, making completely useless Outlook !!!! It is amazing Microsoft wash their hands on such a big problem affecting so many users (there are dozens of threads talking about the same just googling)...
Wow! I have been to many forums and see this same issue, how can anyone get an answer fom microsoft(even an acknowledgement of the problem?) I am totaly flabergasted that no offical response from Microsoft has been forthcomiing. Why is it up to users to solve this problem?
Ok enough rant.I have noticed that in windows live ,under options, that add hotmail contacts to my mobile phone contact list,is checked, and i cannot uncheck it.And that I was getting multiple duplicate of "my contacts"in Outlook,I have deleted them(when I can sync properly),but they keep returning. Also have noticed many blank contacts as well. This has basicaly crippled how I handle my information between my office and home.I stumbled across the"fixes" by trial and error.
Is there no where on the net we users can all go to bang on this giant corporate wall? Sorry, ranting again, but frustration level is peaking!
Just an FYI
I reached out to a friend a Microsoft asking for some help. I am sure if they can, they will get some input for us to at least try.

There are many more users out there with the same problem. I have two Sprint HTC Touch's upgraded to WM 6.1 several days ago. They were both synched trouble free with two PC's running XP, Outlook 2003 and AS 4.5.
Come on guys these are business tools: test it before you release it. If you are going to give us a downgrade, don't call it an upgrade, otherwise give us a fix.
I have exactly the same problem. Does anyone have a solution????
GuusB wrote: I have exactly the same problem. Does anyone have a solution????
There is no known solution at this point in time. There are several solutions proposed by some users, but generally these seems to be quick fixes which are not real solutions.
Microsoft is pushing the users to the Device Manufacturers and the Device Manufacturers can't do anything cuz it's W.M 6.1 issue.
I am so fedup with this issue, i am seriously thinking of selling away my 6.1 WM device and buying WM 6.0 instead .. or switch to another platform all togather.
I have had the same problem with two different devices (the iPaq 4705 - going from 5.0 to 6.1 / and the Samsung i760 - going from 6.0 to 6.1). Both times I received the "Support Code:86000107" AFTER "upgrading" to 6.1. Until that point, I could sync fine between PC's.
The only solution for me is to uncheck Calendar and Contacts (after receiving the error code), let it sync, then recheck them. This works, of course, until I try to sync on the second PC, and then I have to repeat the process.
It DOES, in fact duplicate some items (and I have a strange kinda feeling that they could be the culprits to the problem). I am in the process of finding out which ones, deleting on both machines, then trying again).
There is a program made by MAPI Labs called "Duplicates Remover" which does a great job with Outlook Duplicates. Here is the link: http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/remove_duplicates/?dstr
Until we get a REAL solution, this is the best I have

Or you could use ODIR which is freeware . . . . .
I tried all the sugestions in this thread but everytime I resyncrononized I had the same problem again.
I found a solution that works for me absolutely reliable. I deleted one partnership at the MDA and the PC and rebooted/soft reseted both! Then I deleted all items that I sycronize on this PC also in Outlook (it was just a copy of my office PC). Then I established a new partnership with this PC and after sychronisation all items were back in Outlook and I never received that nasty error again! (Since 4 days!)
Try it - it works!

What works for one user clearly is not a universal solution for all - hence why we are waiting for an Activesync/WM 6.1 fix

Did you try sync'ing both computers again, or did it only work for the one PC?
- hey thanks for that link, I will give this program a try! I love freeware!
I syncronized on both computers again each day since then and it still works properly!
Thanks for this information, I have been syncing Calendar's between 2 PC's, 1 on VISTA and the other running XP and everything worked out just fine. Then my AT&T Tilt had to be replaced and the new one has Mobile 6.1 then this problem started. I have not had any problems with calendar entries being duplicated but will definitly keep this URL that you posted for future references as I had that problem in the past and it is very frustrating to fix. Your workaround to turn off syncing the calendar entry and then turning it back on has worked out for me, will definitly hold me over until Microsoft recognizes there really is a problem and fixes it.
I have the same problem with error code 86000107. I am using a MDA-IV (the T-Mobile version of the HTC Touch Diamond) with a German version of Windows Mobile 6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5.0. I synchronize Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes on 2 PC's (no eMails or Files). If I synchronize with just one PC's, it's fine. But as soon as I try to synchronize on the 2nd PC the error code 86000107 comes up.
The solution I use is to uncheck all items, what should be synchronized, in the ActiveSync window on the PC (under Extras / Options), after the error code had come up. Then it saves the settings and synchronizes nothing (but this takes an eternity !). Afterwards, I check again all item to be synchronized (in my case Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes). Now it saves again (fast) and synchronizes all items. I had no problems with duplicates, so far.

Well, I hope that Microsoft will recognize, that there is a problem (That's why I am writing here, too.). Until now, they don't even know the error code on their web site. If they don't solve such problems, then it makes no sense to by an (expensive) PDA, and I will go back to my old paper calendar (and hopefully a lot of people with me) !
Thanks for that solutionn HTC-Diamond-User. It will be very interesting to see if it works for others in this thread.
- Hello,
I just talked to HTC suport. They told me they know this problem and have adressed it to Microsoft.
I was also told Microsoft might not correct this bug as they have classified it as a "Limitation" and not a bug!!!!
HELLO MICROSOFT! This can not be true! I have been using PPCs for several years using it to sync between Office and Home. This is not possible with Windows Mobile 6.1, which means the new HTC Diamond is USELESS !!!!!
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO CORRECT THIS BUG ??????
Alex Alex, I can sense the frustration but the chances of someone from the Windows Mobile team reading this is slim. This is just a forum of users helping users.
Your info from HTC is very important and for me it says they are aware of the issue. Whoo knows, maybe they will address the "limitation".

AlexThe strange thing is that when i try to look for official documentation or websites stating this dual syncing feature as part of the WM package, i found none.
Microsoft could have gotta away from this one.
I have the same problem too with WM 6.1. Did any of you notice that over 15000 people have looked at this thread?
I also find it interesting that MS doesn't have a listing for this error code (then what is the point of the error code......*sigh*), nor does the MS documentation state the possibility of dual synching. Wow. You may be right that MS slid this one by us.
I also thought the one poster's comment about how these are business tools was spot on. We all bought very expensive phones for serious, work-related activities. And MS hypes 6.1 as a business OS. We need this thing to work without all these glitches and what not. I want to RELY on the phone, not constantly double-check it.
What a pain. Grrr.
- I've got a Q9h, and surprisingly, Motorola still has this 6.1 download available, even though it won't sync between 2 pc's. I guess the pretty interface and syncing to just one pc is good enough for most. I imagine most of us here actually use this as a tool between work and home and work at both places.
I have tried several of the "fixes" on this and various other websites to no avail. I've spent a lot of time with Motorola help desk too, which they tried changing the usb setting from Rndis to Serial. It didn't make any difference. Their solution, which I am not going to do, is save all your info to a pst and uninstall Outlook and reinstall. Come on now.
I did notice too in the last activesync (Windows Mobile Device Center - I'm on Vista) that they took away the user option of deciding what device overrides any conflicts between the pc and pda also, which I thought was useful. Seems to me we wait for 7.0?...
I've passed this on to a couple of my IT guys, and they just chuckle...
Oh, I do like the part too whereby I can't go back to 6.0 on my 9h now either...
djb Just as a note of interest, I have reached out to someone at Microsoft to see if they can put me in touch with someone that might be able to offer some insight. If (and when) I get a reply, I will post it ASAP.
- It might be a bit simple but did you folks chek if the conflict managment for replacing files is ajusted with the same settings on the phone and on the PC? In my case I fixed the problem by setting both (mobile phone and PC) on "in case of conflict replace data on the PC".
- What is the MDA? Not familiar with this acronym.
- I synch my Verizon PPC/Smartphone with two computers, and have for a number of years. I recently starting getting this error. So, I've done this recommended procedure inumerable times. Each time, it works on the PC I am working on, but then I get the error again on the other PC. What gives here? I can't keep on deleting a partnership every time I want to sync with the other computer!!!
Astonishing that MS still hasnt acknowledged an issue....and to think I just switched back to WM 6.1 from Palm OS.
I've tried several permutations of deleting and resetting partnerships and data, and still get this error -- ever since upgrading my Motorola Q phone to 6.1. It is definately time for Msft to pay attention.
Does anyone have any other Outlook Sync options for the cloud, so only one partnership is needed with the device? The others could be updated from the cloud. Apple has mobileMe. That is sounding very good right now. This whole thing is causing me to consider platform change.
WebGenii,
The MDA is a TMobile device made by HTC

Maaaan! I was suffering too much, and i've found god damn solution finally!
So: I have 2 PCs: XP (Primary), Vista (Secondary)
The problem appeared when i upgraded my QTEK9100 from WM5 to WM6.1.
I had to recheck my contacts and my calendar EVERYTIME when i moved from one PC to other!!! It made me stop syncing my Vista PC!
Now i solved it this way:
1) I prepared my Primary PC's PIM, verified that all actual and necessary contacts and calendar events on my Primary PC (XP). For further correct work i had to remove all duplicate recuring events - especially contact BirthDay's events, that were created automatically.
2) I synced my PPC on primary PC (XP).
3) I unchecked my contacts and calendar on secondary PC(Vista), and verified that there is no sync errors.
4) I DELETED all contacts and calendar events in outlook on Secondary PC(Vista) - nothing to loose, because all necessary information is on Primary PC(XP).
5) I checked contacts and calendar to sync on SecondaryPC (Vista). While syncing WMC copied all contacts and calendar events from PPC to SecondaryPC's PIM. There appeared few error messages on syncing calendar Birthday Events with link to these events. I was iteratively DELETING birthday events on PPC and on SecondaryPC's PIM that caused errors, until it was successfully synced on Secondary PC(Vista)
NOW IT FINALLY WORKS OK EVERYWHERE! Now I don't need to recheck calendar and contacts in WMC or ActiveSync, everytime i move my PPC from one sync-PC to another!
If you want to thank me - just make me rich! :-)))

- First of all, I thank you for posting your soulution. I am happy for you, and the others who will use it.
So you need, 2 pc's the solve this problem?
I have got one pc, so I still have to wait for a solution.
I am almost looking every day at this forum for a solution.
Why microsoft... why....
I had suggested the duplicates and/or recurring items could be the culprits (in a previous post). You can delete these by seeing all of your calendar items at once. Open Outlook and go to
View
Arrange By
Current View
By Category
This way you can easily delete problematic items all at once. I had a brand new PC as a secondary PC and still had problems. So, it's not so much with the partnership as it is with the Corrupted items...one thing that can be a tip is to check items that are duplicated. Most likely they are the problem. Just delete them on both machines, and re-create them...
- THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! I AM BEGINING TO LONG FOR MY TREO 650. AND I THOUGHT WINDOWS MOBILE ON THE TREO 800w WAS GOING TO BE AN UPGRADE! FIX THIS ***ING PROBLEM. THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST BUGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. ESPECIALLY ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT PROCESS. I THINK IT IS FUNNY HOW THIS IS MICROSOFT'S MAIN FORUM AND THEY DON'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE A FIX IS BEING WORKED ON! SOMEONE PLEASE POST A CODE FIX. I REFUSE TO DESELECT MY SYNCING ITEMS EVERYTIME I WANT TO SYNC (MAINLY BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN DOING IT SINCE I GOT THIS WONDERFUL WINDOWS MOBILE TREO (2-3 months ago.))
If I dont get a fix for this BUG soon I am going to have to (Holding back saying stuff incriminating).... Will that get your attention MS?? Probably not. How about me switching to Android?
Ironic. I was hoping and wishing Palm would wake up and make a TREO with WM 6 and add WIFI. They did. So why I am hoping that they make a phone based on Android now? I might just have to hold up on ordering all those expensive accesories from Seidio.
/RANT My experience is similar to those reported by others. I had been using a WM6.0 device to sync two PCs: one XP with Outlook 2003 and the other a Vista machine with Outlook 2007 and had experienced no problems. Two months ago, I purchased a WM6.1 device and had been syncing it with only the Vista PC, also without problems. Then I decided to use the WM6.1 device to keep both machines in sync. Adding the second partnership to the WM6.1 device allowed it to sync the second PC without problems, but it then would no longer sync with the first PC. After deleting and re-establishing the partnership with the first PC, it would no longer sync with the second PC.
There does appear to be a serious flaw in the WM6.1 ActiveSync application because it does not deliver the two-PC sync functionality claimed by the Microsoft. This is the kind of thing that often ends up being resolved through class action litigation at a cost far greater than that of fixing the defect in a timely fashion. These are expensive devices and there are a number of costly remedies that a court might impose in a case like this.
Thanks for the update Help_Line,
After your email, i immdiately email HTC support for an update and strangely enough, HTC Support claims that no updates from their side is required.
HTC Support advised me to uninstall my activesync and reinstalled activesync 4.1.
I'm going to try this tonight when i get home but it sounds like HTC Support doesn't know what is happening.

Keep us updated ZhiX.
The update has to come from the vendor so if there is no indication from the person you spoke with, I might try another rep or even see if you can escalate to see if they are aware and if they are providing an update.
- I too have contacted HTC support. Their suggestions:
Solution 1.
1. Uncheck all items in ActiveSync then connect / sync.
2. Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Solution 2.
1. Create a new ".pst" file on the 2nd PC and try Synchronizing the files to the 2nd PC.
2. Run detect and repair
I'd be curious if ANY OEM's know about the fix provided by MS. Nope, it didn't work.
I just dropped another email to HTC Support and see what they say. I have a feeling they are going to lead me to another merry-go-round (trying out their standard run-of-mill "solutions").

- Has anyone anywhere got this fabled bug fix and does it work?
I have not had the need to yet (thank God), I've not experienced the error. I assume you have from your post.
What device? Did you contact the vendor to see if they have the cab file fix?
- I found this to be helpful with my trial and error days with ActiveSync/WMDC
1) Very Important: Backup your Outlook data
2) If Outlook has the most current information than your PDA, its best to hard reset your device to ensure Outlook data doesn’t get duplicated
3) Uninstall Outlook by going to the Control Panel—>Add/Remove Programs—>Microsoft Office—>Add/Remove Features—>Uncheck Outlook—->Update
4) Delete Partnership from Microsoft Activesync 4.1 by going to File—>Delete Mobile Device
5) Delete Partnership from Microsoft Activesync on Mobile Device by going to Start—>Programs—>Activesync—>Menu—>Options—>Highlight your Windows PC partnership and choose delete
6) Reinstall Outlook by going to Control Panel—>Add/Remove Programs—>Highlight Microsoft Office
—>Add/Remove Features—>Check Outlook—>Also check Advanced Customization of options—>Click on the drop down next to Microsoft Office and choose Run All from my computer—>Click Update7) Open Outlook to make sure its working fine
8) Repair Microsoft Activesync 4.1 from Add/Remove Programs
9) Restart the computer [Activesync will prompt you to after the repair]
10) Try synching and you should be able to sync
11) In case you still get the same error, disconnect your device from the goto your Control Panel—>Mail—>Show Profiles—>Add Profile and create a new profile for your Outlook
12) Delete Activesync partnership from both the desktop and device
13) Setup a partnership with the new Outlook profile and try synching
This should fix the problem... it worked for me.
Yes, I have the same problem as everyone else syncing with 2 computers and have been following the forum from almost the beginning.
I have a Vodafone 1615 in the UK, a rebadged HTC TYTN II.
If HTC haven't got the fix yet it seems unlikely that Vodafone will have it.
Has anyone anywhere got the fix and does it work?
Thanks Andrew!
I can only assume that it will be coming (if it is not already available) from the info I got from my contact. Sometimes it just takes time for a release ... we can only hope it will be forthcoming soon from the vendors.
- Thanks glassbawx for your post!
Thank you for the post -
HTC has been useless. I am sorry I bought their phone ($650 !!!) and will never buy their products again. They have received no fix and have no information on this problem. I suggest that everyone flood them with customer support emails on this problem (again) and perhaps they will contact Microsoft.
BTW, why can't MS have just very simply repost a lower grade version of WMDC so we could at least get through this without the pain. - sync'ing with both my PC's was flawless with my Treo 650 using 6.0.
Success, finally...
***I have edited this post a bit after looking at some of my scratch notes***sorry it sounds a little bit dizzy...
Background info:
Same problem and error (Support Code: 86000107) syncing handheld device on two different computers using two different operating systems. I have had some successful multi computer syncs over the past few days; however, the error seems to be present continually now. The log file created by ActiveSync does not indicate any problems though. I should also mention that my handheld is new and I had never synced with Windows Mobile 6.0 - I applied the update to 6.1 straight away cuz I still hold to the belief that newer "should" be better! After many hours of trying different things from different forums, I finally gave up at 1:15am with the hope that a night’s sleep would bring new and successful ideas. It worked! I have finally repeatedly synced my device with two different computers. Details below.
Hardware / Software details:
1. DESKTOP computer
- AMD Opteron; WindowsXP Pro SP3
- Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 SP1; Microsoft ActiveSync v4.5.0 (build 5096)
2. LAPTOP computer
- Intel Core 2Duo Centrino; Vista64 Home Premium SP1
- Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 SP1; Windows Mobile Device Center v6.1.6965
3. Handheld device
- HTC Touch (Bell Canada); Windows Mobile Pro v 6.1 (ROM v3.09.66.1)
4. I have 996 Outlook Contact entries and 137 Note entries
My Solution:
I exported my Outlook 2007 contacts and notes to a "pst" file from my DESKTOP computer. Google to find out how to do this (very easy). I also took note of any important calendar events.
I disconnected my HTC Touch from my DESKTOP computer. I deleted ALL Contacts, Notes, and Calendar events in Outlook on my DESKTOP computer AND on my LAPTOP computer.
I hooked up my HTC Touch to my DESKTOP computer via USB. When connecting by USB it seems more stable to connect directly to a USB port on the computer instead of through a USB hub (yes, my hub has its own AC power source).
Before doing the sync (you may have to manually stop the sync), I opened "Tools--> Options" on ActiveSync and removed the check marks next to Contacts, Notes and Calendar for both my DESKTOP computer and LAPTOP computer (this produced a message saying that those items would be deleted from my handheld device). After the settings saved I synced with my DESKTOP.
I then disconnected from my DESKTOP and connected (via Bluetooth) to my LAPTOP computer and did a sync.
I then re-ticked the items on my DESKTOP (Contacts, Notes, and Calendar). After the settings saved I synced with my DESKTOP computer again. I re-ticked the settings for my LAPTOP (Contacts, Notes, and Calendar). Again the settings saved and a sync was performed.
I then disconnected from my desktop and connected (via Bluetooth) to my LAPTOP computer and did a sync.
I then reconnected to my DESKTOP computer and synced. No errors.
(basically I established a clean sync on each computer without having the Contacts, Notes, and Calendar selected; then I selected them and established a clean sync without any data in those fields.)
I then imported my Outlook contacts and notes into Outlook on my DESKTOP computer and did another sync. I confirmed my contacts and notes were present on my HTC Touch.
I disconnected from my DESKTOP computer and connected via Bluetooth to my LAPTOP computer and did a sync. No errors.
I then synced to my DESKTOP computer and no errors.
I have since started adding calendar events and re-syncing my HTC Touch to my DESKTOP and LAPTOP computer multiple times and have not seen any errors re-appear.
I should also mention that the previous handheld device that was synced to my computers was a Palm Tungsten T5. When I transitioned to the HTC Touch I had a few sync problems mostly relating to old calendar events...some as old as 5 years. When I moved my residence to a different time zone, some calendar events were changed from single day events to span part of two days. It was for these reasons that I figured it would be good to delete ALL calendar events and start from scratch.
Sucess is a great word!! I am pleased to hear that you had a solution but even more happy with tge veryy comprehensive post you made to share withg others. I hope it works for them as well as it did for you.
Thanks for taking the time kyhz!
this is great news and I will try it over the weekend. Can you let us know if both still sync after a day or so - after reading other posts, the sync gemelins seem to reappear after a few days. Appreciate the feedback!
BTW do you consider either desktop or lap top as 'primary' machines?
thanks
Remember, OEMs have to test and certify that this fix works with their devices before releasing to the public. Last thing a company wants is to put out an untested msft patch and have 500,000 users impacted in a negative way.
That said, it would not surprise me if this all gets brushed under the rug as someone suggested (here?) that support of syncing multiple computers are no longer mentioned as an ActiveSync ability. Strange as Palm's Desktop and AS on Windows 5.0 and below works just fine in syncing w/ two computers.
Sorry for the pessimistic view but all it takes is some lazyazz at the OEM and/or MSFT to tank a needed fix like this. They will come up with any excuse to not to move forward. Here is a few - well, it is a small minority who syncs with more than one computer anyways, it cannot be duplicated in our labs, oh, that (fix) is just unsubstantiated internet talk, blah blah blah. I am sure we all head banged against people/departments like this at work, right?
Well, I am still crossing my fingers.
- Yeah...I shake my head at this stuff...if my wife hadn't started a new job last week thus nullifying our vacation plans this week I certainly would not have the dozens of hours to waste trying to figure this out!
The post by Philipp Munin on 15 Oct basically reflects what I was saying above. I forgot to mention one other important point - if you previously had the option ticked to sync "Files" you will have to delete the folder that was created in "My Documents" on both (or all) computers that you sync with. - So far so good with the syncs...Back in my Palm PDA days I considered my DESKTOP as my primary. There were too many issues/troubles with trying to sync both so I just set Hotsync to overwrite my LAPTOP. I always made changes only on the PDA or my DESKTOP. That system worked OK - not ideal but workable....then Palm Hotsync didn't behave very well with Vista on the LAPTOP so I had to go the export/import route. Again, workable, but not ideal. So here I am with this fancy new handheld running Windows Mobile so I figure all should work well together! We all know how that is going...
I want all three computers to sync with each other in a no primary fashion...change one, change all...in theory anyway. I tend to make nearly all my Calendar entries and maybe half of my Contact entries on my HTC Touch. The DESKTOP gets the rest...editing/cleaning up/sorting...then the sync should make them all perfect. The problem arises if you happen to change the same entry on more than one computer. The Palm software would notify you of the double edit, and not knowing which one you really wanted, would put a copy of each on each computer. You would have to manually delete the obsolete copy from one device then re-sync.
Having said that, I do have ActiveSync set to resolve conflicts by writing to the DESKTOP/LAPTOP - that basically says that what I have on my HTC Touch is the correct data. That almost sounds like my HTC Touch is the primary. Winger13 wrote: Remember, OEMs have to test and certify that this fix works with their devices before releasing to the public. Last thing a company wants is to put out an untested msft patch and have 500,000 users impacted in a negative way.
You are absolutely correct Winger13 ... good post!
.... and my fingers are crossed too so all those folks that are experiencing the issue can finally see resolution!
- Day 2...
My syncs with 2 computers and my HTC Touch still working with NO errors. I have edited and created new Outlook Contacts and Calendar events on my DESKTOP and LAPTOP computers and on my handheld and the syncs have completed with NO errors. I hope it keeps up. - One possible issue I have with kyhz's approach is on my work computer i may have calendar items that exist which do NOT exist on my home PC. If I wiped out my entire work calendar, this may cause issues with me.Let me get people's input. The apparent issue where there are more than 100 changes in one item (Calender, Task, Contacts) causing this 86000107, is the initial sync to PC1 and initial sync to PC2 when there is obviously more than 100 changes occuring in each item (Calendar, Task, Contacts) excempt from this ???
- Day 3 and the syncs between two computers still works with NO errors....
kyhz wrote: Day 3 and the syncs between two computers still works with NO errors.... for some reason, your solution didn't work for me .. maybe it's because i am syncing to 2 XP machines rather then 1 Xp and 1 vista.
- I don't think the OS would/should have any impact. I know my first posting is kinda dizzying...but the gist of it is to get the handheld to sync to each computer with no sync items selected...then add the items to sync (contacts etc) with no data in the fields. Basically just telling it you want to sync these items but your contacts, notes etc in Outlook are empty.
Then in the sync options, I tick the boxes to sync these items on my other computer. Again, sync both computers with NO data. Then I import my contacts etc into Outlook on my DESKTOP computer and sync. Then sync the LAPTOP. So far so good. Like I said before, I think my issues came from Calendar events...so far I have 996 contacts and 83 notes synced on two computers and it still works. I have edited items on the computers and/or the handheld and it still syncs with NO errors.
It is time consuming and frustrating but I hope you can get it to work like it should. kyhz wrote: I don't think the OS would/should have any impact. thank you for your advice and enouragement. Maybe I got the steps wrong in my haste to get this corrected. This issue is really frustrating. I am now manually updating items in my work laptop to my ppc (basically doing a manual activesync), this device and activesync is suppose to improve my productivity not add to my burden.
Let me see if I got this correct.
1. Backup PIM (Contacts/Calendar) in both Desktop & Laptop
2. Delete all PIM entries (Contacts/Calendar) in both Desktop & Laptop
3. Sync both Desktop and Laptop, ensuring that Activesync is achieved between Desktop & Laptop WITH NO DATA (since all PIM entries have been deleted in Step 2).
4. Import all PIM entries into Desktop.
5. Sync Desktop to Pocket PC.
6. Sync Pocket PC to Laptop.
7. Sync Pocket PC to Desktop.
Did I get the process right?
- That sounds pretty much the way I did it - I did not bother to back up my PIM entries on my LAPTOP as I want it to be exactly the same as my DESKTOP. I just imported them on my DESKTOP and synced to both computers...I suppose you could import your PIM entries from your LAPTOP to your DESKTOP and just deal with any duplicates before syncing - thus ensuring any unique entries from you LAPTOP would be included. Hope yours works.

- If I understand correctly, add step 2.5 .... sync Handheld to both the PC and laptop with AS, where NO items are checked.then proceed to your 3. and check all items on both the PC and laptop and sync again with AS (no data will move to the Handheld as all PIM info has been deleted from both PC and laptop earlier).....the rest of your steps seem correct.===========
Note, I am trying basically your steps withOUT step 2.5. See how it goes on Wed (the next time I have access to my 2nd computer)
Hi there!
I've got an XDA Diamond (HTC Touch Diamond) and I'm so happy to see that I'm not alone with this problem (though this problem doesn't make me happy at all). Unfortuantely O2 is offering an update including the 6.1 AKU 1.2.3. Why unfortunately? Well, I installed the update a couple of weeks ago and it changed nothing concerning the sync problem ==> still the same issue :-(. So my new found hope after reading the post promising a new fix was destroyed as soon as I read my ROM version (1.93.207.2 GER). O2 states on its homepage:
Xda diamond: Version 1.93.207.2
The update contains among other things:
- Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 AKU 1.2.3
This should be the mentioned fix, shouldn't it? But still I get the error 86000107...
- Perhaps we should try a third party product lock Pocket Mirror or Laplink PDA Sync. Maybe that will motivate MS
Hey kyhz ..
i think you may have got the solution here ! I just did your procedures this time around with much more care .. and I have been syncing on both pcs for the past hour. Will be monitering the situation for the next few days... nevertheless, thank you for troubleshooting and sharing the solution with the rest of the folks.
For anyone else who wants to try this out. This is the step by step procedure which I did.
1. Backup PIM (Contacts/Calendar) in both Desktop & Laptop
2. Delete all PIM entries (Contacts/Calendar) in both Desktop & Laptop
2.5. UNTICK Contacts/Calendar Sync Option in Pocket PC. (this will clear all PIM data in your Pocket PC).
3. Sync both Desktop and Laptop, ensuring that Activesync is achieved between Desktop & Laptop & Pocket PC WITH NO DATA (since all PIM entries have been deleted in Step 2). Activesync a few times with Desktop & Laptop WITH NO DATA.
4. Import all PIM entries into Desktop.
5. Sync Desktop to Pocket PC.
6. Sync Pocket PC to Laptop.
7. Sync Pocket PC to Desktop.
8. Import all PIM entries into Laptop
9. Sync Pocket PC to Laptop
10. Sync Pocket PC to Desktop
11. Sync Pocket PC to Laptop

In your 6. Sync Pocket PC to Laptop., doesn't this already bring all your PIM info from Pocket PC to the laptop? So why the 8. Import all PIM entries into Laptop ? This will overwrite anything on your laptop.
