SD-Card not installed?
- I bought a HTC Touch Pro a week ago, and inserted an 1GB microSD-Card(pqi), that I used in my old cell phone and it worked perfectly. It was shown in the Explorer and it was shown with ActiveSync, too. Then I bought an 8GB microSDHC-Card(adata) and inserted it. But in the Explorer it doesn't show any Memorycards. With ActiveSync it doesn't work either. I can see the microSD when I insert it in my PC, and I can write and read it. I looked how much memory I have left, but it said only "Not installed"...
Does anybody know the answer for this problem?

- now i bought a 4GB microSD from Adata, and this card can be used, so the problem is solved...thanks for all, who tried to help me!

Hello. Really should work but some off-brands may need formatting/reformatting.
- Thank you! I tried it with soft resets, but it still says "not installed". I try it then with formatting.
- Insert the Card into the Storage card slot. Download the cab file in the link below to your device memory. Tap to run it and restart the phone.

but only my 8gb card doesn't work. maybe, it doesn't work because it is class 6?? does anybody know? - with formating it doesnt work either...
- do you have it set up to activesync with your work OWA server? if so, they probably pushed down a security policy that makes using a memory card impossible. my phone is useless because of my work's security policies...can't install anything, SD card is impossible to use...sigh. tried some work arounds too, can't seem to break it.
- i have it for private use, so my phone shouldn't have any policies...
Hello. All the forums I frequent say that 8gb class 6 should be fine. HTC usually tests their equipment with Kingston and Sandisk. You could try those brands. However, I'd first rule out a hardware problem. I know your device is pretty new but can you go to your carrier store and see if your card works in their demo model? It sounds like your card might be OK since your PC recognizes it. I don't think it is carrier dependent because I have a Windows 6 device and my 8 gb card works fine. I think WM 6/6.1 supports SDHC.

in the manual it says that the touch pro can use a microsd up to 32 gb, so it should work...
i think i did it with FAT and 32KB...whats the best? - Hello. If you can, format FAT16. I don't think phone microprocessors are as advanced as PC microprocessors. Maybe that's why you can see it on the PC and not the phone.
- oh, ok, thanks for the advice...but i've read in wikipedia, that FAT16 only does support cards up to 2GB( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Allocation_Table ,in the table on the left side)
one more thing...i can only find NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT in the formatting menu. and i can change the allocation unit size(with FAT32) between 512 byte and 64 kilobyte
what should i do now? - Oh yeah, that's right. Forgot about the 2 gb limit. I think the formating is fine, whatever it defaults to. I think the only thing you can do now is to figure out if the card works in any other Touch Pro. Or just get a Sandisk card. You might be interested in this thread:

i use the same card like "fhsieh" on the first page, second from behind: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436449 but my card doesn't work...tomorrow i go to the shop where i bought the touch pro AND the microsd card and ask them, if they can fix it or give me another card...

I think it might be the card.

So maybe the second one is slightly different in spec from the first one? @ah-hin
Hello. I heard that Adata does not actually manufacture the memory itself but buys them from different sources and rebadges them with Adata brand. So it is entirely possible that it could be "different".

There are very few manufacturors of cards. Companies provide the specs and a card maker will produce the card. Differences and quality can occur. I prefer to use "name brand" cards to avoid potential issues.
