If we are going to have a safer end-to-end "trust" situation, who is going to decide who is trusted? (Microsoft, The U.S. Gov., Visa, News Corp, or Euro Card?)

We should filter the internet on the client (AKA your computer), as that way we are all free to filter as we wish, with no risk that others may know or decide. Unregulated communication is also known as free speech. Ban framework, Spam blacklist, and phishing filter are also known as censorship.

    Enjoy!

spam blacklists are voluntary, you're free to setup your own e-mail server and accept All incoming traffic if you want.

that is true, but the average user doesn't know how. If communication is going to be monitored, I believe it should be by a Non-profit organization, so money is not involved.

We need to empower people to make informed decisions.

We don’t need or want a “Big Brother” to make these decisions for us.  But today it is really hard to tell if that mail is really from my bank, if that is really my friend that is IMing me etc.

    John,

It is only going to get worse. MPLS layered provisioning keeps the end user form ever finding out. Someone is going to be in COMPLETE control (or the closest thing to it possible). "Someone" may become a moving target... well it is certain to be... the layers involved are at the PlanantLab Vserver war level. virtually, virtual, with virtually no unvirtual risk. ...or for you cyber historians, Ross's TDM slicing mainframes... completely trustworthy! Aboslute nothing can or will go wrong. hmmm, just realised, Turner took the textiles to create silicon valley, and Peroit took the steel industry to create... ?EDS? And EDS... hmmm, everywhere they been is either bankrupt or out-of-business... strange. Now they are HP owned...just wondering when my HPservers are going to need ink?
