I just put together and loaded my new home computer with Vista 32-bit SP1. I have a Mesh set up with my XP Pro work laptop, and want to add this new computer. I download Live Mesh and it seems to install and initialize fine. I enter my information into the login screen, hit next, and without fail MOE will crash. It does pop up the next screen to add the device, but entering the information and attempting to continue results in an error. In the meantime, the taskbar notifier will indicate that it is loading, and then display the "Sign in" prompt again.

I have tried uninstalling, redownloading, and reinstalling, all with no effect. I have UAC on, and the elevate privileges set as specified. I captured the log after the new install, after only one crash. I do see a NullReferenceException stack trace in the log file.

    Has this been encountered before?

    Hi Justin,

We just deployed a new version of Live Mesh, and it could have been around the time your were having this problem.  Would you mind trying again?  If you still have this issue, please send us your logs (if you haven't already done so).

    Thank you,

    Ben.

    Hi Ben.

I noticed the update when I got to work today. I'll try it out and see how it runs. I was literally attempting this right before I made the original post, so you can get timeframe that way.

    Thanks,
    ~Justin

OK, the update did have an effect, but not the one I would have liked. Now, it persists the user name and password after crashing, if I check the boxes. This has the effect that it crashes in a loop for a few times, each time taking me to the device registration screen. Eventually it gives up and indicates that it failed to start.

    Should I still submit this?

    Thanks,
    ~Justin

EDIT: A little bit further information. Looking at the logs, I'm seeing the same NullReferenceException stack trace that I saw before the update. I'm not sure this is the source of the problem or a symptom or unrelated.

    Hi Justin,

That's certainly not the effect either one of us was hoping for.

Yes, definitely do submit a bug report on this, please.  Instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums.  If you submit through Connect you can also post your Connect Feedback ID here for others to validate (that will also make it easier for me to track internally).  I'll follow up with you here if I learn anything.

    Thanks,

    Ben.
