I am always leery of synchronizing because I'm afraid of making duplicate contacts somewhere or worse, of deleting a contact inadvertently.

Problem: Several contacts which are showing up just fine in CRM Online do not even exist in my Outlook Contacts folder. I am using Dynamics CRM Online. I know the CRM Online data is up to date and correct.

I want to be able to synch my CRM Online data to Outlook with no possibility of doubling my Outlook contacts, and I want to be sure the missing contacts in Outlook won't inadvertently delete the CRM Online contact.

    Thanks!

Contacts in Outlook are synced based on the filters that are set. Fews questions here:

    1) What is your Outlook CRM Contacts Sync Filter setting? You can see all you filters from Crm Menu -> Outlook Sync Filters

    2) Are you the owner of these missing contacts?

    3) Were these contacts available in Outlook at some point and then disappeared? Did you try to untrack these contacts at some point?

There is nothing checked in the filters, I've never looked at them or changed any defaults.

I have never untracked anything. Yes, these contacts were in Outlook at one point and disappeared.

Possibly, I deleted them inadvertently, but if I did I thought they would also be deleted from CRM.

Is there a way I can safely delete Outlook contacts and force repopulation from CRM without danger of losing anything or creating duplicates?

It is only a few contacts, and I don't know how many there are, I have only noticed a couple missing.

    thanks!

No help here yet. Anyone? Restating problem:

All help revolves around getting contacts from Outlook to CRM Online. I cannot find anything on pushing a contact from CRM Online into Outlook Contacts.

    Thanks!

P.S. I found the deleted Outlook Contact and put it back in my Contacts folder. When I ask it to track and then synchronize it creates a duplicate record in CRM. I cannot figure out how to have the CRM Online data 'pushed' to Outlook, it all seems to go the other way.

It was an ordeal, but finally figured this out in anther thread.

Apparently, when you delete a contact in Outlook Contacts, it does not delete it in CRM, but it triggers a flag that prevents it from ever synching with CRM again, even if you put it back in the Outlook Contacts folder. My ordeal came from making a mistake in my Outlook Filters settings, but once that was straightened out the fix is fairly easy.

Save all your Outlook Contacts to a .pst file on your desktop for safety. I don't know if this is absolutely necessary, but I then deleted all my Outlook Contacts so that folder was empty. Then I reconfigured the CRM database. I went to the START button, typed in "configuration" and started the CRM Configuration Wizard. I deleted the server for our CRM Online data, then added it from scratch all over again.

Bingo, all contacts came over just fine.
