I've installed the new WGAN "patch" on my computer, and the validation failed out. So I click the "Purchase a Genuine Windows License" option. It takes me to a web site and tells me that I can purchase a legal key and everything wold be fine axcept that it doesn't actually give me and option to buy the damned key code. Furthermore, it tells me that the service is not available in my region, the United States. Can you please help me buy a legal key?
Seriously I'm offering to give you guys money. Can I get some help?

Mojoscream:
Give it about an hour. Our Order Management system is backlogged due to the volume of requests daily (from Microsoft's huge collection of products). They do daily maintenance and its usually not down for more than an hour.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Nope, still nothing... Here is what I see...
Purchase a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit Online
The Windows Genuine Advantage Kit helps customers who received counterfeit copies of Windows convert their system to genuine Windows.
Once you have completed the purchase process you will receive:
- An e-mail which includes a new product key and a link to an online conversion tool (please allow up to 48 hours for payment processing). The conversion tool will scan your system and try to convert your counterfeit copy of Windows to a genuine copy. To learn more about the scan click here.
- A CD you can use if you need to reinstall Windows XP (please allow 2-4 weeks for shipping).
Note: The e-mail will be sent from service@microsoft.com. Please modify junk mail or other e-mail filters as needed to ensure receipt of your new product key.
Seriously, I really want to make this copy legit as it's SERIOUSLY IMPEDING ON MY WORK!!! What would it take for you to take my money? The Windows Genuine Advantage Kit is not currently available in the region you have selected.
I've tried clicking every link on the page, and I get nothing about buying a new copy, getting a "product key" nor anything on where to input my financial info! Help me please!

Interesting, can you post the link you're in the purchase path?
The US, there are no known active bugs at this time for any websites.

I'm clicking on Validation Failure Details then it brings me to the screen that says This copy of Windows is not genuine. So I click the "Buy Now" button. then it takes me to the page located at http://catalog.microsoft.com/genuine/purchase/BuyNowDetails.aspx?displaylang=en&Error=22&Loc=USA&sGuid=667193da-dee5-491b-999e-bf51b6d9855d (the one I posted above).
But it does not allow me to actually purchase a legit key or anything.

Mojo:
I've spent the greater half of the day with developers and we can't seem to reproduce the problem. (Not saying that it doesn't exist though).
At this point, I recommend contacting support (http://support.microsoft.com) or checking other options to purchase a Windows Genuine Advantage kit locally (http://catalog.microsoft.com/genuine/purchase/ComponentCheck.aspx?displaylang=en&Loc=USA).
However, I will still be looking into this issue until it is resolved completely.

What operating system are you using? Hm..
We can only produce this flow when using a non-supported OS (i.e. Win2000, some flavors of WINE, etc).

Mojo:
After checking in and further investigation, here is what I can tell you:
Media Center Edition is designed for specific hardware for specific machines and is only availible (genuine copies) from OEM computer manufacturers (see dell, compaq, etc). - The drivers are very specific for each individual machine, etc.
WGA does support MCE validation, but we do NOT support resale of WGA Kits with MCE on them, specifically because we cannot account for individual user's machines. Thus is why we can't sell you a copy. We definitely appreciate you working through this with me, and I'm sorry to have to tell you this.
At this point, the best bet would be one of two options:
-Call your OEM or original computer maker. If they are genuine distributors, they will gladly help you.
-Call the country (from wherever you're at) local Microsoft service center to order a copy of Windows XP pro or home. Keep in mind, you WILL have to reformat, since we do not support MCE fully. If you need further help with buying directly online Pro or Home, please let me know.
I hope this helps,

D'oh!
Thank you for working with me on this. I'm glad that you guys care enough to try to work through this with me. The only reason I'm running MCE really is due to the fact that it works so well with the XBox 360. I'd rather not take a step backwards and try to make things work through other means. But if I have to I guess I have no choice.
Although it is kind of weak that Microsoft is pushing a standard on my machine that isn't supported. Weak sauce indeed. I guess I'll reformat and try again. *sigh*
Thanks again for trying to get this whole mess figured out, I'll be very wary in the future with what I get from now on.
iMacs here I come.

Mojo:
In regards to Microsoft pushing a non-supported standard - we push supported standards assuming a user is on a genuine machine... - the Windows XP MCE is designed for very specific machines - thus the necessity for a genuine copy of Windows on that machine.
Please remember that not only are we trying to help the public gain awareness of software piracy, but Microsoft is also trying to protect our own intellectual property we have worked very hard to develop.
I'm glad I could track down this problem, I hope things work out if you decide to purchase a genuine copy of Windows.
