Moving an installation of XP Pro from one computer to another

  My father had an extra copy of XP Pro on one of his old laptops, which he uninstalled (and reverted to its original Win 2000) and provided me with XP to put on a machine I was given.  However, WGA seems to fail because the laptop profile does not match my desktop one.  How do we go about getting the hardware profile switched?
