Scan is stuck

  I got a pop up that said a java script error and when Iclosed it another pop up appeared saying my PC is at risk and then a strange page opened with a red warning. I immediately closed all pages and opened One Care, ran an update and have been trying to scan for a couple of hours now. I did the quick scan and it said there is nothing suspicious on my pc. However each time I try a complete scan, it stalls at my printer which is an Epson. I have paused the scan and it will not restart. I have tried to close it and it will not close. I have restarted my PC numerous times and tried to scan again with it stalling at the printer. I have tried to close the paused scan window with the task manager and it will not close.
     My PC is Vista, IE7. I have left the scan window open that is stuck now on pause.
