I cannot open Any programs in vista. I had one care installed on my computer prior to this happening. Basicly, l cannot get one care to start at all. It doesn't start on boot up of windows, I just get a message saying it failed. I cannot uninstall it because whatever is going on with my computer won't let me access anything to fix the issue IE: program manager, network utilities. If I try and open any of this the window pops up and then remains blank. Finally I got fed up and tried to just reinstall One care to find out that my computer won't run the install utility from the disk.

It says I must have administrator privledges to run that tool. I am the only user on my machine. If I log off it says my account is an administrator account. So I decide to download the file. When I right-click it and select "run as administrator", it freezes and give the message "The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait. Do you want to end this process?" nothing happens if i wait.

My only other suggestion is to try a diagnostic startup. In the Start Menu search box type run. Open the Run box and type "msconfig" without the quotes. Select continue on the UAC window. On the General tab select "Diagnostic startup" then "Apply". restart the computer, right click the cleanup tool file and select "Run As Administrator". If the tool runs open msconfig again and select "Normal Startup" and restart the computer. If this does not help I suggest contacting support. Hi, if anyone can help with this, would be greatly appreciated. i also cannot run anything in vista, tried to run misconfig, but it wont even open this. Keeps closing the window. I have tried running an antivirus, but again, keeps closing down. This is a brand new acer laptop; Please can anyone help, any more info required, please get in touch. Thanks
Tried running windows defender too, its also not opening.

I recommend that you contact Acer support or consider restoring the PC to factory defaults using Acer's recovery CD/DVD set.
