Proposed Sync Toy 2.1 Drive Letter Changes

    I am using synctoy 2.1, the drive letter keeps changing every so often at will.  The left folder drive letter folder and the right folder drive letter changes to the same.  Right now for example both are Drive: O.  I have nine different runs/tasks and the all change.  The folders remain the same, just the drive letter changes so all are identical.  Is there a way to reset drive letters?  I recreated them all only to have it happen again a month later.

    Hi,

    Hope this isn't too late for you - I had *exactly* this problem and solved it by changing the USB drive letter back to the correct one. I did this by using the instructions at http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/change-drive-letters-windows-7.htm (Iwhich I located by doing a search on 'change drive letter Windows 7'). I've just run Synctoy 2.1 and it works.

    If you really want to reset the drive letters it can be done, but you have to edit the hex file where the data is stored.  This happened to me where I couldn't change back to the original drive letter because it was in use by a new device.  Here's a good description (not mine) of how to do it.
