         Today I have OCS hosted customers that have different topology types.  One has 2 resource forests (OCS forest and Exchange 2007 forest) and an account forest.  Another has an OCS/Exchange forest and an account forest.  The last one has 1 OCS Forest and a Account/Exchange forest.  The main difference you can see here is that Exchange is hosted in different forests.

     

       My question is with the proxyaddresses attribute and in which forest do we populate the SIP URI into it.  We have had varying levels of success ranging from no presence integration to the FROM feild in Outlook not showing presence when deploying it in the OCS forest only.  If anyone could clarify this attribute and also any other dependencies this would be great.  Also if there is any documentation I can look at that has information on this.

     

    FYI:  In a single forest environment this works fine.

      You need to populate proxyaddresses in the forest/Exchange system where Outlook is connected (where Outlook receives its address book).

          Hi,

           

          ProxyAddresses is an attribute that Exchange add to Active Directory and is also maintained by Exchange, whenever you add an email address to a mailbox this attribute get's modified. The SIP URI belongs to a different attribute called msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress. As Mike indicated you want to make sure that the SIP URI of the user is added as an email address to the user's mailbox. If the user's SIP Address is indentical to the user email address then this will already be the case and you should have clean integration between Outlook and Communicator

          Important The primary user address (msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress) of the contact must be added to the list of proxy addresses in the ProxyAddresses attribute of the mailbox object. This is required for integration with Outlook and other Microsoft Office products.
