I think a X10 integration should be interesting. For houses that already have this system to open stores, switch lights on/off and so on, the ability to control all of this via WHS can be amazing !!

In a sofware that can be delivered with the connector, you should program lights, ambiences...

from an xbox, a PC or everything else connected to WHS (why not from the web, when you forgot to switch off the light ? Smile

X-10 is an outdated, unreliable protocol; there are better choices in the marketplace today.

That said, using WHS as a sophisticated home automation controller is definitely one thing that the WHS design team had in mind.

Yes but, I have a house full of X10 and a HP MSS Home Server for 8 PC's. Probably have 12 X10 lamp and appliance modules, at Christmas time there are another 8 so I for one would really love to have a WHS based X10 control Add-In to interface with my Active Home X10 controller (USB).

mControl from Embedded Automation supports x10. I think the equivalent product from HAI also does. I doubt that you will see home automation built in to the base product, as I don't think Microsoft really wants to be in the home automation market. They'd rather sell the platforms on which home automation vendors build. Smile
