    Hi,

    We had setup HPC cluster on Windows Server 2008 R2 OS. The HPC 2008 R2 pack which we used is of Express edition. Across multiple places, I had seen that Excel operations and SOA apps need HPC 2008 R2 Pack with Enterprise edition. My quesion is that will it suffice if I have Windows Server 2008 R2 with Express edition of HPC Pack 2008 R2 to run Excel services (doesnt seem so) or Shall I need to build the cluster with HPC Pack 2008 R2 enterprise edition. Also request you to provide reference link from where I can get the HPC Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition. I have only the trial edition link but not the actual product link.

    Hello,

    Some words about HPC & Excel:

    As we can see,

    "The client-side and developer features are available in the Microsoft® HPC Pack 2008 R2 client utilities and software development kit (SDK). The cluster-side features are available with the Enterprise Edition of HPC Pack 2008 R2."

    So, only ent. version.

    And what does "ref. link" mean? "Also request you to provide reference link from where I can get the HPC Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition. I have only the trial edition link but not the actual product link." - I didnt catch a point. You can download only trial.

    Hi Ahriman,

    Thanks for your quick response. We are planning to prepare a POC using Excel UDF offloading samples which can be showcased to customers and take it forward as appropriate. Currently we are working with Express edition which is not allowing us with experimenting work related to Excel UDF on cluster. Further, we dont want to base our efforts on evaluation edition since we have multiple plans to work with this product. Hence to procure the enterprise edition of HPC 2008 R2 I was asking for a download link. Please note that we have SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition licenses.

    Hope this clarifies my question. Please help me in getting the needful.

    Thank you for the information. I was not looking for evalution pack but the RTM pack as we need to do development on RTM pack. Evaluation pack cannot be used for this.

    To buy the Enterprise version of the HPC Pack or HPC Edition of Windows Server, you need to go through the Microsoft volume licensing channel.
