We have a workflow that is activated whose owner is currently not available to deactivate it.  When any other user with admin priviledges try to deactivate it, the CRM says that it can only be deactivated by its owner.  There has to be a way to deactivate this workflow.  Can someone help.

    Hi,

Assign the workflow to your user and deactivate the workflow after that!

    Greets,

Yes, that is the first thing I tried to do.  I got the following SQL error as a result.  We are running CRM 2011 Online BTW.

The URL posted by Bodhidharma just got broken by an added few characters on the end. This version should be OK:

While I mostly agree with the blog, an Admin has to have a way to shut down all Workflows (Period).  There will always be circumstances where this is required.  Perhaps the reassignment should work and that will end up allowing this to happen, but right now it does not (see SQL error above).  We do have a tech. support request in with MS on this.  I will report the results.

We are on CRM 2011 Online so MS manages the logs.  MS repsonded to our Tech Support Request yesterday and fixed the SQL error that was happening on all assignments (including Workflows).  It has now been resolved so admins can now reassign WFs they don't own and then deactivate them.  I'm not sure why MS made this a two-step process for admins, but as long as there is a way to do it, I'm OK with it.
