cd/rw drive not recognized by computer

Hello, I have a cendyne cd/rw drive, I am running windows xp. My computer does not recognize the drive at all. At start-up I get thr error message " secondary slave drive ATAPI incompatable I then press F1 and the start-up process continues. Can someone tell me if there are drivers I can download, or is my drive broken? Thank You Sean

this isue wil come when you set the primary/slave setings rong or somethimes when you have an ilegal windows
