  Hi,

  A few days ago I changed my video card and was hit by a virus the same day. Virus cleaned now (I hope) but windows now wants reactivating (not sure if this is a result of the video card or the virus).

  The code on the sticker is refused because "already used" so I tried the phone but still no luck.

  I saw in the forum something similar so followed instructions to reset the license database (?) and restarted twice but still no way to activate.

  It looks as if your Licensing Store is corrupted.

  Please try the below steps to recreate the Store with the correct data.
  
  1) Open an Internet Browser window.
  2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
  3) Find the file CMD.exe
  4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
  5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
  6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
  7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
  8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
  9) Type: net start slsvc
  10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
  11) Restart your computer twice.

  You may be asked to enter your COA Key and/or Activate.

   

  Once complete, run another MGADiag report and post back with the results

  You’re correct that nothing has changed – one of the important things that hasn’t changed it the Trusted Store Tamper timestamp highlighted above – which means that (hopefully) you managed to remove the guilty program during your initial clean-up.

  If you’d done that command sequence before, I would have expected an error message this time, as it would be trying to overwrite an already-existing file. Please confirm that you did not get any error message  - if that is the case, then please list the contents for the

  %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
  folder.

  If you did get an error message, but managed to work around it by changing the filename or extension, please tell us.

  it will probably appear as

  C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

   

  If it’s not present – how far down the tree structure can you get?

  I have known one or two cases where the folder didn’t exist – but the resulting errors were very different.

   

  Please use telephone activation again – but this time speak to an operator.

   

  telephone activation.
  Click on the Start button
  in the Search box, type
  SLUI 4
  and hit the Enter key
  follow the instructions - but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.
