IDE optical did not show in My computer ?

I have D965 series Intel Mother Board and have 1 HDD (IDE) and 1 DVD+-RW. Both devices are IDE and attached through a single IDE channel.
I have installed Windows 8 CP few days ago. Earlier it was showing my DVD burner in My Computer but when next day I started using, I noticed it is missing. Till now I have done many things to remedy but all in vain. EVEN I HAVE UN-CHECKED THE OPTION 'HIDE EMPTY DRIVES' IN FILE/FOLDER OPTION.
Is this a bug/loop-hole in OS ? or
Is this due to legacy hardware ? or
Support ended for dual device on single IDE channel ? or
something else ?

Anyway, there's a Microsoft Knowledge Base (314060) that applies to Windows 7 and describes a problem like the one you're talking about: maybe it could work fine for Windows 8 too, but the first resource is the Forum I've suggested you.
