Second Shot
- Hi there,
Does anyone know whether or not Microsoft will be extending the Second Shot offer beyond June 30, 2009? It is always nice to know you have a second chance if you fail on the first attempt.
Hopefully they will, as I would like to achieve a few more certifications this year and having this option relieves the pressure to a certain degree.

I am planning to give 3 certifications in next few months / How can I take advantage of Second Shot?

Varun_Dev- Hi Varun,
Navigate to the following URL and go from there. Basically you need to register and obtain a Second Shot voucher which is sent to you via email. Once you have the voucher, just let the testing centre (e.g. Prometric) know you have it when you book the exam.
Unfortunately the Second Shot offer is only valid until the end of this month (30th June). However, Microsoft do extend these offers quite often, so here's hoping they do the same this year.

I already have the email with code. So, do I need to book exam before June 30th or I can book it when I feel comfortable about it ?

Yes, in order to use the Second Shot voucher the exam has to be taken on or before June 30th.

- I am finishing up my MCDBA and one exam is left. With second shot possibility , I'll have this certification done with more piece of mind. Hope Microsoft hears all of us and continoue to help all of us giving more chance of learning and expanding our knowledge.
- I just found out about the secondshot offer, but it ends today. I really do hope Microsoft extends the offer.
- Sorry to bug in, but maybe by sending an email to microsoft requesting or asking them to extend the date further will break their heart and extend the date.
Not sure if that will work but I have just send an email asking if the date will be extended, will let you know their answer.
Dont know if this a good idea but second shots rocks

I have just given my 70-536 exam yesterday... At the prometiric center, I overheard the center incharge telling another cadidate that the second shot offer has been extended till the end of july.... But i do suggest that you confirm this with a suitable authority first as this was just some conversation I happened to over hear at the test center...

Well I'm pleased to see a number of other people fell the same way as me.
Yes, in the past I have spoken with Prometric too, and they have indicated that while Microsoft on the face of it only advertise the Second Shot offer to a certain date, the reality is they tend to extend it beyond that date. Usually for only a month though.
I guess it is just a matter of time before we find out what Microsoft intends to do. This year I've managed to complete two MCITP's, but there are several more I would like to finish before the end of the year. Having the Second Shot would certainly make this a little less stressful :).

Just thought i would add my weight to this disscussion incase any from Microsoft see's this, i passed my Windows XP exam first time but had the second chance offer their just incase, i was under no stress or anything cause i knew i had this their just incase, was fully expecting to fail and went in totally open minded, i say the only reason i passed was down to the Second Chance offer, i was trying to get my Server test passed before the offer finished but just couldnt get the availability to sit both tests if i had failed the first one, so im now sitting it out untill Microsoft state whats happening with Second Chance.
Ill be closely monitoring this disscussion now, so anyone with any news would be very much appreciated ;0)

P Bailey - I have received answer from technet and the date has not been extended. Till now there is no information that it will be extended.
Will just have to wait then for the second shot offer again. Too bad

Regards, Athar - True. It would certainly be an advantage and a confidence as well to know that there will be a second chance for you to correct your weak points. Hopefully they are going to extend it this month or August even.
