MS CRM 4 freezing due to high memory usage, how do you clear it down?

We have had sporadic performance issues in MS CRM across our estate. We have a multi-tier environment with CRM running on web servers which are not showing any stress. On our front tier Citrix servers where IE is running connecting to the webservers we see very high memory usage per IE process (where CRM is running within the IE process).
I have recreated this by opening IE, connecting to CRM and I can see the memory increase steadily just be clicking around the nav bar like a maniac for approx five minute. This resulted in 512mb and does not clear down until you close IE.
I am not a CRM Dev but this occurs even when you just move between account and contact menu options.
Really really need help with this one please? We have hundreds of servers with 4gb of memory and they can't cope, which is impacting other applications and users.

Couple thoughts.
- Are you also seeing this behavior on non-citrix machines also (is this behavior consistant with all machines on your network, or only some?)
- if you have CRM developers or personel find out if they have the platform trace tool running on the server constantly?
