How can I convince “the powers that be?”

To be honest I knew that this GWA Validation will bite this company in the “back side” sooner if not later.  The following is a situation that I have.  I am looking for advice, as if I had the power to make things go they way I want 100% they would be so.

Here it is: For some time now beginning with the first legitcheck.dll file I have been circumventing around the WGA Validation.  I am sure I can even get around this new one but I would rather not have to take that route.  I am looking for a way to push my employer to purchase legit copies of XP for its XP workstations.

Can someone help me out here with a good way of convincing them? I could pull the “I refuse to break the “law” and support theft of software. Then they could pull that you’re out of the door and jobless.

I am at a loss and not sure what I should do at this point, and I also feel as a network administrator I am breaking some moral code in my own mind by allow the company I support to use illegal software.

Heck:  I have so much to prevent downloading of *** and Music / Videos and content filtering, to protect the integrity of this company, yet I can’t seem to remove the “stolen” OS which is installed on all the systems I protect.

Thank you for your input. We definitely appreciate your viewpoint on this public forum. I definitely understand that you're in between a "rock and a hard place" right now.

If you are in the US, I urge you to file a counterfeit report here: http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/ReportingUs.mspx (links to other countries are also within).

If possible, would you be willing to recieve email contact with our Legal department? (Please do NOT post your email address on this forum. We will contact you directly).

    Thanks,

    -Phil Liu

Thanks Phil for the informative incite, but as I said I am more in the area of pushing them into purchasing the new keys before they get caught up in some legal actions.  I am looking out for the betterment of the company. Not to have the company in a legal suit.  Heck If that was the case I could “dime” out so many companies and computer shops in a 10 mile radius of my home and work.

I would recommend pointing your administration toward www.howtotell.com and news articles that may be found worldwide. The best way right now is to inform them as much as possible, and have your user group inform the administration as well.

I recommend using the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications program as one way to inform your administration, as it is designed for one main thing: Awareness. People need to know what other companies are doing.

    Good luck,
