Locked Outlook 2003 stalls (cursor/hourglass flickers)

I'm having a problem on my laptop where, after having Outlook 2003 open for maybe 5 minutes or so, the cursor will start flickering very rapidly and, shortly thereafter, the program becomes completely unresponsive, with the cursor alternting with an hourglass. CPU utilization for Outlook goes to 95%+. You can easily kill the Outlook process, so the entire machine isn't hung up.

Tried detect & repair, which didn't fix it.

Running the new updated 1.5 WOC. Any ideas what I should be looking for? Tempted to try uninstalling WOC and try Norton to see if the problem goes away, but that seems rather drastic. And yes, the problem existed with 1.0 WOC as well. Started about three weeks ago, if I recall correctly.

    Thanks-   Mike Jacoubowsky

     Hi Mike.

The problems that you experianced may have nothing to do with onecare. I have one pc that does the same thing, but it has other security software installed. It may be an internet explorer issue. You may be able to fix the problem by pinpointing what is causing the problem.

Diana: Thanks, I agree that it might not have anything to do with onecare.. and I'd love to pinpoint the problem! But how? I maintain quite a number of computers, and usually don't have much trouble running things down, but this one has me stumped. Disabling various background processes doesn't seem to fix it.

    Thanks-  --Mike--

     Hi Mike,

I would concentrate on internet explorer. A nessesary update was what fixed it on my pc.
