During the installation on Live OneCare on three computers in my home network, the software asked if I wanted to install my HP 2605 Laserjet printer. Mistakenly, I clicked, "yes." What each of my computers ended up with in each installed printers folder were two HP 2605, the original one connected my network and a shared copy seemly connected to one of the other computers on my network. The software had misidentified a network computer as one connected directly to one of the other computers. What followed was not pleasent, since neither printer setup worked. In order to make the printer functional, I had to remove the printer software from each computer and reinstall it. This worked for two of the three. The third computer refuses to take a reinstall, aborting it on two successive files, HPXOP01.exe and HPZRCVO01.exe. Currently, HP does not have anything on this one.

You are correct, that only a locally attached printer should be offered to be shared by OneCare.
How is the printer attached? Is it attached to any single PC or is it a network based printer? How is it configured on each PC (where it works)? Were/are you sharing the printer from one of the PCs that it is installed to?
quinta-feira, 4 de dezembro de 2008 00:53No. It's a network printer (HP 2605) connected (or was) by way of my LAN to an IP address. The printer is not, not, connected to any PC via a printer cable, which may be my only resort to preserving some printing capability.

Earlier I responded to your post on the same issue in an older thread that you added to, before I realized that it was the same issue we were discussing here.
On the PC that is "sharing" the network attached printer, open OneCare, click Change Settings and go to the Printer Sharing tab, uncheck the option to share printers. Also, clear the shared printers offered to the other PC(s) by going to the same tab on those PCs.
All I can think is that the HP software is installing something that makes it appear that the printer is local to your PCs and not a network printer.
If you want to report back the results after trying the above, continue it here rather than the old thread in the Install/Activate topic folder, please.
