Dear all,
1. How to set 2 managers for the same project?
2. How to configure Project server to allow only Project owner can edit the project?
Thanks all.

HI there--
Out of Box, project manager's permissions allow the project Manager to view all the projects in project center that they are owning or working as a Team member. If you want all other project manager can view all projects but can not edit the one which they don't own.
Following article should help.
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/OpenOtherProjectsReadOnly.aspxRegarding your question " How to set 2 managers for the same project?" In Project Server 2010, the new Project Permissions feature allows users or groups that have been granted the “Manage Basic Project Security” category permission to grant users and groups access to the projects they own.
Please see below article (step by step):

Dear Amit,
I solved the above issues, but I have another problem:
- The project owner cannot rename his project. He must go to Project Permission, ant set permission for his account to rename project. Is there any problem with my configuration, or this is the problem of Project server?
- The 2nd project manager create tasks, insert task, and edit task; then assign to resource. But the 1st project manager have to approve it. And the 2nd project manager don't receive any approval request.
Please help me.

Hi there--
Regarding your query "The 2nd project manager create tasks, insert task, and edit task; then assign to resource. But the 1st project manager have to approve it. And the 2nd project manager don't receive any approval request.",
The new project manager has to manually select his/her own name in the Status Manager column for every task in the project. After selecting his/her own name in the Status Manager column for every task in the project, the PM must also publish the project.
For more info:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/status-manager-task-field-HA010167477.aspxOn your query to rename the project, How the project manager is renaming the project?
Option 1: Open Project Pro in connected Mode >> click File menu >> Open >> Retrieve the List of all projects from project server >> once you get all the projects list in the same dialog box >> right click the project you want to rename >> select rename >> provide new name and press enter , you will get a notification that your rename job has been submitted to server >> after a while(once the rename processing has been done) when you do a file >> open >> Retrieve the List of all projects from project server >> you will see your project has been renamed
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/RenameProject.aspxIf PM has permission to Open Project" and "Save Project to Project Server", can rename the project.

Dear Amit,
I tried but failed.
There is the remark: "The Status Manager field is available only in enterprise projects".
I have created the project by "New --> Basic Project Plan".
I added project permission for my colleagues. And tried to change status manager in Project Schedule in PWA. But it is read-only column.
Then I tried to edit it in Microsoft Project Pro 2010, and only see my name in the status manager column. I can not see my colleagues name here.
Please help me.

Hi,
Status manager you can change only from MS Project. For the first time 2nd PM have to open project and e.g. create task. in this scenario name of second project manager will be added to dropdown for status manager and you will be able choose status manager from PM1 and PM2.

Agreed with Tomas, As I mentioned earlier that "The new project manager has to manually select his/her own name in the Status Manager column for every task in the project. After selecting his/her own name in the Status Manager column for every task in the project, the PM must also publish the project. "
Hope that helps.

Dear all,
Please read this situation:
- I've configured the permission of Project manager: not check Allow or Deny at Save project to Project server.
--> We think only the project owner can edit the Project. But when I build team, then add users that in Project manager group, they can edit my project without any change of permission.
- Then I check to Deny at Save project to Project server permission of the user. They cannot edit my project. And they cannot edit their projects too.
Am I wrong with the configuration? How can i allow just project owner to edit project?

Hi There--
Please see the below article:
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/OpenOtherProjectsReadOnly.aspxIf you want only the project owner can edit the project but other can view it, You'll need to modify the My Organization category associated with project managers group. Above article describes it all.
Hope that helps.

I did it, Amit.
Imagine the situation:
- Project manager A is project owner of project 1
- Project manager B is project owner of project 2
I have configured like the recommend.
- Project manager A can edit project 1, and cannot edit project 2
- The same case with project manager B, he can edit project 2, and cannot edit project 1.
Then Project manager A build team, and add project manager B as resource. Project manager A create task and assign it to project manager B, then publish project, close and check-in it.
- From now project manager B can edit project 1, and can edit project 2 too.
- Project manager A still can edit project 1, and cannot edit project 2.
I think there's a misunderstanding of my organization category. It understands that all users in project resource have "my organization" permission.

Dear all,
I found the way to do it:
- First, in My Organization category, choose deny all --> Save
- Second, go back to My organization category, uncheck deny all --> Allow to Open Project and 3 View... permission --> Save
From now only Project owner can edit the project.
I don't know is this the problem inside Project server system. But when go to Organization category, choose allow all, the uncheck allow all. And just allow Open Project permission. Any resource name that in Project manager group can edit the project without permission.
