1) is a suggestion for the MSE team, not the HSBS team. But don't hold your breath...
2) is already available; just buy SBSe instead of Windows Home Server. You give up some of the media handling, but gain the ability to use more memory, more processors (WHS and SSe are both limited to a single socket), and domain join (or domain master)
capabilities. If what you want is to be able to use your server as an application server, or as a TS server, Microsoft has other offerings that are better suited than WHS.
