Streets and Trips 2011 installation problem

    Discuţie generală

  • I have tried to install Microsoft Streets and Trips on my Windows 7 PC, and I get the following messages in sequence that prevent me from installing the program:
    1) Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011 requires the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable.  To install the component now, click OK.  If you want to stop the installation and exit setup, click cancel.
    2) Please wait while the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable is installed.
    3) One of the prerequisite components fail to install.  Setup will now exit.
I have checked the system, checked the drives, gone through all the measures suggested from the Microsoft Support site, but to no avail.  when I go to the Microsoft support site for assistance, it says that I have to provide a product identification number, but in order to get that number I have to install the program, which setup will not let me do.

  • I just ran into the same problem.  I get the same messages on my 64 bit system but it loads and runs on my wife' 32 bit system - both with Windows 7.

  • I had the same problem and found I had to remove an already installed version of Microsoft visual C++ 2010 redistributable as it seemed it is limited to a specific version and mine was a later version. Now once it installed I then went to the Microsoft Update and it reinstalled the latest version I already had and uninstalled. After that it has worked fine. Oh and I rebooted after I removed the Visual C++ software.

  • I have used streets & trips since my 03 version and loved it. Thought 'upgrading' to the 2011 would be good. BIG MISTAKE. After uninstalling the 03, cant get the 11 to work. After following all the MS instructions etc, no dice. No help anywhere from MS. Forget it, I'll uninstall it and look for another map source.

Didn't work for me as Streets required C++ 2010 be installed before it would install

  • What a piece of junk.  I should have listened when I read the reviews.  I have uploaded and deleted this program numerous times and still nothing.  I tried deleting C++2010, that didn't work.  I tried loading it from the DVD and downloading from the website.  I have an older version on my PC and apparently will have to continue using that.  I'm so disappointed.  I only hope I can return this. I'm getting "Your registry settings for this application were not copies properly.  To correct these settings; run setup again for this application from the location where you originally installed it".  The icon doesn't even show up anywhere.  On my previous version, as soon as I loaded it, the icon was on the desktop.  If you're reading this, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PROGRAM.

  • I'm having the same problem.

I have S&T 2011 on DVD. After some futzing around with the C++ issue, I got it installed on my laptop. I activated it on the laptop but did not register it. Then I tried to install it on my desktop PC:

First problem was the classic "One of the prerequisite components failed to install. Installation is ending"

I then ran Streets/MSMpa/data.msi from the DVD and the installation seemed to complete normally, but........

When I launch S&T I get "A liscension initialization error has occured, error 0x8007005"

Both of these PCs are running Win7 64bit SP1 with all latest updates.

The EULA says I can install on 2 systems as long as they are not in use at the same time.

By the way, KB960480 doesn't seem to apply to my situation.

Does MS offer any kind of phone support on S&T??

Has anyone used the Microsoft FixIt tool for this problem?

    Any bright ideas?

  • This problem seems to have been fixed with the help of MS Remote Assistant with Rosemary in India in the driver's seat!

Rosemary had control of my PC but I think what she did to get past the "prerequisite failed to install" issue by running data.msi

Once the install was completed, the program option to Run as Administrator was set and the program launched normally.

  • I should have done some research before buying this software the day before going off for a holiday in Europe.

Like perhaps everyone who buys this product it failed to install at the stage where it hit the dreaded error:

The solution turned out to be to retrieve the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package.

You then run that and tell it to remove what it finds. After that, you can install Autoroute by running its Setup utility.

I tried the alternative, running the installer "ARX_2011\AutoRte\MSMap\data.msi", but despite seeming to work that delivered a different error, as described by wayneskid, telling me to "phone home".

Given how many reports there are of this issue, and I retrieved my copy today, a year or so after the software first came out, it is baffling that the distribution files still provoke these errors.

  • Hi All,

I had exactly the same problem. Now how did I solved it is as follows:

    1. Un-install all the previous "Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable(s)". Even the newest one i had.

    2. Reboot.

    3. Install the newest "Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package" .

    4. Reboot.

    5. Install Microsoft Streets and Trips.

It worked for me. Hope will work for you also.

  • Microsoft MapPoint 2011 and AutoRoute 2011 we developed using the Visual Studio C++ 2010 (NO SERVICE PACK). Their install will fail on newer computers that have the Visual Studio C++ 2010 SP1 redistributable installed.

    To work around:

    1) Uninstall the Visual Studio C++ 2010 SP1 redistributable (x86, x64, or both depending on your system).

    2) Install the Visual Studio C++ 2010 NO SERVICE PACK redistributable (x86, x64, or both depending on your system). http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

    3) Install Microsoft MapPoint 2011 or AutoRoute 2011

    4) Install the Visual Studio C++ 2010 SP1 redistributable (x86, x64, or both depending on your system). http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523

This one worked for me. After, go to Microsoft Updates & let it make sure you have the newest version installed again. Windows 7 X64. Thank you ageinghack.

  • Excellent help Joecil

I had the same issues with my 2011 Streets and Trips with OS win 7.

I uninstalled all versions of visual C ++ from my computer. (Controll pannel, Programs and Features) then Installed Streets and Trips from the CD, no issues.

    Thanks
