Answered Online licensing an illegal copy of Windows XP

Hello. A friend of mine asked me to help him to ensure all software on his computers is legal. He has two rather old PCs, running copies of Windows XP Professional SP3. I ran the Microsoft WGA validation software on them, and it informed me that they are both non-genuine. I believed that as a result of that, he would receive offers to purchase two WGA kits for Windows XP, but he got informed that the OS he was using "might not be sold anymore" and received offers for GGOKs (Get Genuine Online Kits) for Windows 7 instead. Is there any way to legalize these copies of Windows XP, because I fear that neither the hardware he has, nor the accounting software he is using would be happy with Windows 7? Thanks in advance.
