    Hi,

    I have a MSP 2010 project file containing 268 lines.  Around 30 to 40 tasks are now having empty task name.  All other information is still there.

    Is this a known problem? Is there a solution to recover the names?

    This issue has been mentioned multiple times within this and other MS project forums.  There seems to be various conditions as to when it happens and various workarounds which may or may not help.  Bottom line is that it is a known issue

    I have read on other forums that the task names that have disappeared sometimes appear at the bottom of the tasks.  I have also read that the problem may be linked to the multiple undo.  You can try setting undo to 1 under File -> Options -> Advanced -> Undo levels.  I had a similar problem with random highlighting disappearing from a master file that I saved from Project 2010 as a Project 2007 file.  I ran the August 2011 HotFix and that solved the problem.  Here is a link for the Project 2010 August 2011 Hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2584056

    We have upgraded to Dec 2011 CU, yet finding issues were TaskName are disappearing. Unfortunately, we could not nail down the steps that is causing it, but suspecting that timesheet updates are causing it. The reason being, one of the project that lost the task name was not updated by project manager for quite sometime. Only thing that happened was people reporting time and PM accepting the hours and status in PWA.
