    Hello,

    I'm trying to prevent the Team Member security group from creating new tasks in their My Task page.

    For this group, I removed the permission "Create New Task or Assignment".

    But this settting doesn't work : they are still able to create new tasks.

    What did I miss?

    Hi,

    "Create New Task or Assignment" is on category-group-level. When you open your security group, have you selected all categories from "Selected Categories" one by one? Is "Create New Task or Assignment" unchecked for all categories?

    Moreover you can disable that in Global Permissions: New Task Assignment.

    Hi Barbara,

    Yes, "Create New Task or Assignment" is unchecked for all categories of the Team Members security group.

    I made a test with Deny for this permission in the My Tasks category for this Team Members group, and a member of this group is still able to create a new task from his page My Tasks....

    Hi,

    no effect of a deny??? Interesting. You could try to get your test user off all groups, watch the queue until all processes are completed and put him back only to tema members group. Let him test when queue is empty again. With removing him from all groups and adding him back again, you force a re-apply of the permissions of tem members group. Does that change anything?

    I did everything you told me: no avail

    I tried the same operation with another resource, member of Team Member group with "Create New Task or Assignment" = Deny in the My Tasks categorie.

    He is still able to create a new task in his My Tasks page...

    Sorry, I have only a few minutes. During the next days I will have a look why deny on category level has no effect.

    A quick check showed me that setting "Deny" to "New Task Assignment" in Global Permissions will prevent Team Members to create new tasks and assignments. Perhaps that will help in the meantime?

    The setting "Deny" to "New Task Assignment" in Global Permissions is really efficient in preventing Team Members to create new tasks and assignments

    Hi,

    I promised to get back to you. I played around with the system and can only confirm what you have seen: No effect of changes on category level for new task and assignment creation. Since there is a global permission for that, I don't see it as an issue.
