Replace my EX485
-
3 mai 2012 04:54I may have to replace my EX485 if I find out the MOBO is toast (as discussed in another thread). I have come acustomes to the connector software and like the interface.
What are the current HP WHS machines out there? The newer ones are running a different OS then the 485? Any suggestions on a replacement, preferably HP? We use it for personal stuff and our small business. Benefits of the newer models/newer OS?
Thanks for any help,
Jamie

The HP Mediasmart series was discontinued several years ago.
If you are looking to stay with HP hardware, you might want to
check out the micro servers. These are usually sold without the
software o/s but in some cases you can find a package deal that
includes WHS 2011. HP is not pre-installing a WHS o/s though.

Although I believe it formally supports the installation of WHS2011 on its Micro servers.HP is not pre-installing a WHS o/s though.

OK, I Googled for reviews of WHS boxes but not many are found.
any suggestions on where to start looking for a pre-built WHS machine?Or good documentation on building your own? I've built several computer in the past when it saved money to do so, so I'm not afraid of building one if it's the best option.
Just looking for some tpis, suggestions and direction.
Thanks!

You might find something of interest here:

The pre-built WHS boxes are comming mostly from the EU.
Those of us in the USA have gone mostly with self-builds.
Good luck in your search.
