This forum is for helping customers interoperate with Microsoft Products via our Open Protocol Documentation. Information on this program can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/protocols/default.mspx and the documentation itself can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc203350.aspx. Your issue does not appear to be related to our protocol documentation. However, there is a forum for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on TechNet which can be found here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/threads/. Your issue seems most relevant to the previously mentioned forum. The file in question is the *AdvanSys SCSI Controller Driver*. What you are experiencing can be caused by different things. First, I’d expect a bad CD. Is the CD scratched or damaged in any way? The second thing I would do is run a memory test to verify your RAM is working correctly as this is a cause of many Windows XP installation problems.
If the CD is damaged, you could try obtaining a replacement through this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326246. I am unaware of the stipulations regarding the replacement.
I’d follow-up with the Windows XP forum I mentioned above, as they would be best aiding you with this issue.
I hope this information assists you. Please inform me if this does not and I can try and direct you to the correct forum.
