How to configure backups?
I'm unable to get backups working. All three PCs are running XP SP2 with the latest fixes, and are connected over Cat5 and a gigabit switch (as is the server).
In each case as I added the new PC to WHS, it tried to configure backups and failed with a message about the PC not having NTFS. This is incorrect, they all are formatted with NTFS (and I am not using encryption on them).
When I try to configure backups for any of the PCs from within the WHS window, it takes a minute or two then says "Home PC is unresponsive".
I do have McAfee's current anti-virus/firewall installed on all the PCs. However, I have responded with "Allow" to any prompts that have come up during WHS configuration.
Suggestions?

Because of a bad install by certain program the upperfilter key in the registry can be damaged.
For Windows XP go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
double click the upperfilter and type, "PartMgr" and click ok.
Reboot computer and you should be set.

- I would try disabling both the McAfee and Windows firewall just to take that out of the equation.
Yeah, I guess I could try that after yanking my internet connection. I hope that doesn't fix it though, because it really shouldn't be necessary.

Disabling McAfee's firewall and virus protection didn't help unfortunately. Maybe I need to uninstall it to really remove the tendrils, but I'm highly reluctant to do that.

I just set up a fourth home PC tonight, using the connector software shared by the server, and on this PC (with same McAfee configuration) I was able to configure backups.
Thinking that perhaps the connector software shared by the server had been updated without my knowledge, I uninstalled and reinstalled the connector software on one of my previously-configured PCs (one on which backups cannot be configured).
When I set up the connector on this PC, I got the following message:
"This computer cannot be backed up automatically because it does not have any hard-drive volumes that are configured with the NTFS file system."
The message is incorrect - the HDDs on all my PCs are NTFS, uncompressed, not encrypted.

- Yeah, this does not fix everyones problem. Mine was already set to PartMgr. Does having a RAID 0 array as my primary OS drive haveanything to do with it?
Will Microsoft please fix this issue which has been unsupported for over 1.5 years?!?!?
