Live Sync - XP

31 มีนาคม 2554 22:22If microsoft chooses to dump XP users, then is there an alternative for us happy XP & live sync users? Upgrading to Vista or System 7 is not an option. If its not broke dont mess with it.

Here's an option.
A free software that does exactly what I want.
It syncs unlimited data between two computers (no cloud).
Two way sync works like a breeze.
Microsoft and its designs to make everybody upgrade to the bloated vista!

Microsoft has no desire for you to upgrade to Vista. Apparently you are *very* much behind the times. Windows 7 has been out for over a year now.
Sticking with XP is your choice, and may be your only recourse for many reasons. So, thanks for your link to assist others with another option.

nice sarcastic response Stephen. i hope you don't work for Microsoft. if you did and you worked for me you wouldn't. many companies still use xp and upgrade as computers break rather than just upgrade because you offer a new os. simple yes.
your beta worked across all platforms but for some reason you chose to leave out a large part of the work force and that is regrettable. most peoples home computers are either vista or 7 but there work computer is sadly xp not there choice. why else would i need your service but to connect to work on the go or from home. did anyone crunch the numbers on computers still running xp?
thank you anti monopoly for pointing me at a google service i thought i was done.

No, I don't work for Microsoft. I'm a fellow customer. And, yes, I use XP at my office because it works. My computer will not be upgraded for some time yet, so Windows 7 isn't in my immediate future at the office. At home I have one machine remaining on XP, my netbook.
My response was not sarcastic at all -- at least it was not meant to be. I simply pointed out the reality that Microsoft is pushing Windows 7, not Vista.
I don't know the specifics for why XP is not supported in Windows Live Essentials 2011, which includes Windows Live Mesh -- the upgrade to Live Sync and adoption of technologies introduced in Live Mesh beta, but I suspect that the reasons are partly technical and partly a business decision.
Please keep in mind that this is a *free* service offering from Microsoft. And, that there are many reasons to want to use the service, not just to sync with or connect to computers running XP. If you have to or have chosen to use XP, unfortunately you will need to seek an alternative as Microsoft chose not to support XP for the service/products.

I have used Live Sync until it went down for XP users on March 31.
Now I have switched to Gbridge, which works great.
It took me few minutes to get the idea of how to do a two way sync, but now it simply works (and for free).<cite>www.gbridge.com</cite>

another option that works well (bit more technical than Drop Box, but also more choices) and is very secure.
They give educational discount too, just need an 'edu' email address
