My product key says its invalid, HELP!

I'm running Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition and when I go to update my system it says I have a invalid product key. I,ve tried most of the solutions that are avalible through microsoft, but nothing seems to work! Microsoft said my windows system is validated . Please help!
