DFSVC.Exe

16 พฤศจิกายน 2550 7:46Good Day Folks,I know I'm being a little anal here. But, I was checking my WLOC (2.0.2392.4) and was checking under what the Firewall was allowing, and noticed that it has allowed a program 'dfsvc.exe'. This seems out of the ordinary for me, as all my other 'allowables' look okay. What concerns me is that this is the only program that shows the .exe extension itself; but WLOC Anti-Virus says there isn't a problem anywhere on my system. That being said, I did a search on this process; and noted that this could possibly be a process that was added by a worm of some type; thus my reason for concern. The only thing that has recently been added to my system is the Zune 2.1 update that recently came down from Microsoft. So should I be concerned about this or not. Presently, I have blocked the process within the WLOC firewall until I get a response from one of you nice folks. Thanks in advance for the assistance.MarkP.S. The WLOC Team ROCKS !!!.....Version 2.0 is pretty awesome; can't wait for it to go 'live'.....:-)

Please contact support to have this checked out. I'm certainly not a process expert, but it could well be the worm.
http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2 -use the "Get More Help" link in the lower right of the page to contact support via email.
Also, the official way to report suspect files is described here:

It may be connected to WindowsClient.Net Forms
(or http://tinyurl.com/3djyzf if the above link brakes up)

"What is the dfsvc.exe process that starts when I use "ClickOnce"?
That is the actual “ClickOnce” engine that is handling the update checks & downloads. It is launched when a “ClickOnce” application needs updated. It shuts itself down if not used for 15 minutes."HTHRosie -
