I have been reading through the list of communications concerning the locking-up of computers and have some additional concerns I would like to present. I have three computers running on Onecare currently. This morning my desktop locked up and I am experiencing many of the problems stated by others. Can't do anything but use the internet browser, can't remove or uninstall Onecare, don't have .Netware 4.0 installed, Safemode results the same, etc. etc. The operating system is Vista.
My real concern are the other two computers. Sjoud I uninstall OneCare while the computers are functional and install a different security suite? None of my computers have 4.0 Newtware installed. This is like a ticking timebomb. Does anyone know what starts these freeze up? I am very concerned since my laptop is my livelihood. any sugestions are appreciated. I have a laptop using XP and a laptop using Vista. Right now I am petrified as to what my loss will be if a rebuild is required.

It isn't "Netware" it is .Net Framework 4.0.
Unfortunately, I don't yet know the cause of the problems with the locked up systems other than what the OneCare team reported - that is the .Net Framework 4.0 relationship. They are able to reproduce the problem instantly by installing .Net Framework 4.0 on a machine with OneCare and rebooting. Upon reboot, the machine gets into the described state of being pretty much useless.
I'm going to lock this thread and refer you to the main thread -

As for the two machines that are currently running fine with OneCare, that's up to you. I have a single machine running OneCare right now, in red status, about to expire. It is not experiencing the problem, nor does it have .Net Framework 4.0 on it.
Personally, there's no real good reason to leave the machines on OneCare at this point, so I'd make the switch to MSE or another security product:
Uninstall OneCare http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecaregeneral/thread/732e6371-2e71-479a-8cd6-b189941ed4fb, use the cleanup tool: http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/399071e2-49dc-4767-932d-d261e3965943/, and then download and install the free Microsoft Security essentials for malware protection - http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/resources.aspx
If you used OneCare for backups, you'll still be able to restore from old backups if you use the OneCare Restore tool - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecarebackupandrestore/thread/e5d686c8-762b-4b22-bc08-bfb93f911e57, but you'll need to seek an alternative backup solution.
