I recently replaced my 100GB external backup drive with a 1TB unit. Now, Tuneup is taking forever. It starts at 2am and at 8AM it's still crunching on the external drive. I emailed Tech Support and was told that it's not possible to exclude a drive. This seems like a common option (remember it in Symantec products). Is there any other way to skip having onecare scan and defrag a backup drive?
There is no way to configure the Defrag part of Tune-up, but you can exclude the external drive from being scanned by opening OneCare, clicking Change Settings - Virus and Spyware tab, Exclusions button. Use the Add Folder button on the next dialog to add the external drive to the list not to be scanned. -steveMicrosoft MVP Windows Live / Windows Live OneCare, Live Mesh, & MS Security Essentials Forums Moderator
