Answered summary actual start ??

Icreate a summary task "A" with two subtasks "B"&"C".
(project start = 2010/1/18, calendar = standard, no relationship between any tasks)
Then, I input actual start "2010/1/20" for task "B" and leave task "C" blank.
I expect the summary task "A" should have actual start the same with task "B" but the result is "2010/1/18".
(I think summary actual start is the earliset actual start within all child tasks).
anything I miss?? or it's by design (equal to project start)??
ps. if there are two(above) child tasks with actual start dates , it seems correct.

In the case you describe, task C will still have a planned start date of 2010/1/18, so the summary task is correct. This behavior remains unchanged for many project versions. Summary tasks do not refelect an accurate roll-up of actual start dates and actual end dates until all subtasks contain this information.
