    Hi everybody,

A user asked a new question in the very old thread, so I split it into a new question. Then I noticed a very similar new thread by that same user, so I've checked his activity to find that thread. However, the link was to the old thread and so there was no longer a message by that user there. I had to look through all today's threads in order to locate that thread.

I am thinking - is it possible to update user's activity when the thread gets splitted?

    Thanks in advance.

So the thread activity gets deleted?

No. Here is a scenario - user answers in the old thread (a new question). I split that thread to create a new thread. The user activity says that he replied in the original thread (but the message is no longer there). So, the activity reported the original reply, but after the split that activity is no longer valid. There should be some new activity generated when that message got moved to a new thread.

However, from the programming point of view it may be a complex task to make it work. For me as a user this presented a problem as I was trying to find that message in order to merge two threads (as he also created a new message as I later found out).

Got it. Do you want to submit it or shall I?

It should at least get bugged.

    Thanks!

I filed a bug to track this issue, anyway as a workaround the new split thread shows on the user’s thread list so you can find it there. Please, let me know if this works for you.

    Regards.

I see, I may want to use this workaround next time. Thanks.
