Windows Live ID...I can't change it?

  I have a Windows Live ID associated to my Xbox gamertag that no longer can be used.  I have tried numerous times to change it, but my request always gets denied due to lack of info (ID is over 5 years old).  Can someone please help me change it so I can have a functioning ID associated with my gamertag?  Thanks.
