CRM 2011 R7 - Change installation and configuration of SSRS

Soru CRM 2011 R7 - Change installation and configuration of SSRS

Hello all. Right now, the CRM 2011 R7 database configuration uses a SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 cluster and the SSRS was installed and configured in one of the nodes of the cluster. So whenever a FAILOVER occurs, either manually or automatically, to the node without the SSRS installed and configured, CRM 2011 starts to show failures on the reports.

It's possible to uninstall the current SSRS from the cluster, reinstall it in an NLB schema and reconfigure CRM 2011 so it gives the minimum impact on the production environment? New installation will use the same database server and the same instance but the web service will be in the NLB, two nodes web farm. If yes to the question, please answer also how to do it in order to minimize the risk of losing whatever it's configured in the CRM 2011 Reporting Extensions.

    Thanks,

Hello all. Well, situation has changed and now SSRS is installed and configured and working but from CRM 2011 I have no access to the reports. My best guess is to move the RDL files from the old installation but would like some advice. I have updated the deployment with the current SSRS Web Service data and installed the Reporting Extensions in the new servers.

For what is worth, old installation of SSRS was http://sdb/ReportServer and new installation of SSRS is http://srv:8015/ReportServer. Old RDL files are still in their current location since I have not uninstalled old SSRS.

    Thanks,

CRM + Report databases can be hosted in a SQL clustered environment.

ReportServer (~website) is installed in a method called Scale Out Deployment.
While the Report database hosted in a SQL cluster environment, the ReportServer (~website) itself is installed as an independent service and is not a part of a cluster.

If you want to have "NLB" between 2 reports servers, you must configure "SOD" on the reportserver and eventually install SSRS on both of them.

I suggest you to reinstall/reconfigure the new reportserver into Scale Out Deployment which will allow you to view all the old reports with the old data sources. This way you could also remove the old reportserver.

Thanks Kosta for your reply. But what I ended up doing, after some deep reading, was to use the tool "PublishReports.exe" to re-publish the reports to the new SSRS and with the new Reporting Extensions implementation. That was it...
