Your system would appear to be too old to support an OEM)SLP install of Vista - and the motherboard is a retail one.The Key belongs to a Dell machine.Does your machine have a COA sticker on the case? if so, for what version and edition of Windows is it valid? If not, how did you purchase this copy of Vista?

thanks for interpreting the diagnostic report...
my computer was purchased in april 2008 in with the vista ultimate already installed and activated. this is my very first and only computer -- in 2008, i didn't even know how to boot it and had to read all the help topics i could access! lol
until last month's crash, windows was fully functional, including aero and updates (sp2). i assumed was legal, as i received no notification from m/s that it was otherwise.
there's no sticker on the case, so about 3 years ago, i retrieved the activation key using "magic jelly bean".
i used a borrowed disk for last month's re-install.
btw, the machine was purchased in saudi arabia and brought to the philippines in july 2008, in case that's material.
i have no funds to buy a new copy of windows... so what do i do to reactivate this one?
again, thanks for your help!

That first statement does explain a lot. Both the Arab regions and the Philippines are hotbeds for counterfeiting. The chances are that the machine originally shipped with no OS installed at all (or with Linux), or was cobbled together by a local shop and a counterfeit installed direct.According to what you can see on the case. what is the make and model of machine? If it claims to be a Dell, there should be a Service Tag number on it - what is it?I can see no way of making this properly genuine without spending money - meaning a Full Retail license for Windows 7 Home Basic/Premium.
