Does Windows Home Server (& its clients) _REQUIRE_  use of services (or pages) via IIS, using port 80, for Backup or any other internal, LAN-based WHS service?
I know there are other ports in use, and I'd like to serve other files (and use PHP scripts), using internal-facing IPs.

( I want to change what pages are served when users access http://SERVER/ )

Thanks for all your help out there.

No, it is only used to serve the Windows Home Server Web Site page. The remote login requires the use of HTTPS port 443
