Is there any way to set the Regarding field with emails and appointments to multiple records?  I do not know of an out-of-the-box way, but I thought someone might have a workaround as this seems to be a fairly common problem.

    Thanks

    Hi,

This is not possible out of the box.

You can customise the activity to add a N:1 relationship to another record type.

And how would this work with the Outlook client?  I did not think you could access custom fields from Outlook.

    Hi,

With the Outlook client for CRM 2011, you can access the CRM Fields using the 'CRM Fields' button on the 'Show' ribbon group.

Is there any way you could elaborate on how to do this step by step or point me to a related article?

I understand but you still cannot use the "Track in CRM" or "Set Regarding" for this.  Also how would an N:1 relationship solve this issue?

What you are asking is not possible.

While its true that you could create a n:1 relationship this relationship would not be accesable from Outlook. Only 1:n and entity fields are available here.

There is no really good way to do what you ask unfortunetly.

    Hi Scott,

Could you elaborate how you add an N:1 relationship please.
I am trying to Set Regarding Email with multiple account records.

    Thanks,
    Sinto

    Sinto,

Set regarding links the email to ONE account (or contact, or other) record.  But, you can use Connections to associate multiple accounts with one email.

From the Account side, you would see the emails you "Set Regarding" to under the Closed Activities left nav bar link.  The ones you created Connections to would be under the Connections left nav bar on the Account.

    HTH,

    Dave
