    Hi,

I noticed that there are many papers with the PDF uploaded, but that do not show the list of papers they refer to

    For example: http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Paper/13293119.aspx

Such papers cite other papers already in the database, but the citations are not taken into account.

Is there any time delay between a paper appearing in the system, and the citations it makes being accounted for ?

    Thanks

    LC

    hello Luis,

Thanks for your feedback! Currently, paper citations are extracted from papers by our system automatically. Due to our algorithm, the situation of failing to establish citation relationship between two papers may occur to some extent. We are still working hard on improving our service and we appreciate your continuous support!

    Best wishes

    Hi Caroline,

    Thanks for the reply!

In fact, the problem seems to be not just failing to establish citation relationship, but

actually failing to extract the list of references from the PDF of some papers.

Why are some papers with PDF uploaded but that do no show a "DOWNLOAD" button in the general lists,

while other papers showing the "DOWNLOAD" button ?

    For example, in my page:

    http://academic.research.microsoft.com/Author/1950438.aspx

The first item (Conversation Types) has a DOWNLOAD button.

The second one (Session Types ...) has no DOWNLOAD button.

But both have the PDF file uploaded.

    Hello Luis,

"DOWNLOAD" button links to a reliable access for paper downloading, and it is realized by our process automatically.  After entering a certain paper, you can see several links on the page, they are ranked by access reliability, only the top one can be seen as "DOWNLOAD" button. Albeit some papers do have uploaded PDF, yet neither of the links is recognized "reliable" by our process, "DOWNLOAD" button could not be seen under this circumstance.

Any problems, feel free to let us know!

    Best wishes

    Hi,

Thanks, but I am not completely happy with your explanation, since

there are many cases of papers with links for *exactly* the same sources

    (dblp /DOI / author site)

and some have DOWNLOAD buttons while others do not. I am not sure

if this is a bug or a feature...

    Best of all,

    Lui
