  Hi BenJH,

  Are you using Windows Server 2008, HPC Edition? If so, you are correct. SharePoint server requires the Application Service Role, and the Web Server (IIS) role. The HPC Edition of the operating system only supplies Web Server (IIS) role.

  Hello Ben,

      Is it true even today? Do I not have any options to install Sharepoint Server 2010 on an HPC Based Windows Server 2008 r2 machine?
