    Hello everyone,

I've done some digging over the past couple of days and haven't been able to make much headway in regards to an error I've been experiencing.

I'll try to outline what is happening and what troubleshooting steps I've taken with as much detail as I can:

    Situation:

After my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone receives a task notification from Microsoft Sharepoint it stops to synchronize mail. The phone will download the task notification itself, but won't download anything that is received after it. My Microsoft Outlook client continues to work fine, it will receive all mail and doesn't generate any errors. I synchronized with an Exchange 2003 server using full push over OMA.

When I try to synchronize it will show me that 0/X (0/4.. 0/13.. etc) e-mails need to be synchronized but as soon as it enumerates the number of e-mails needing a sync it generates the following error: "Error Synchronizing" on the device and doesn't download any new mail into the inbox. It doesn't elaborate or give any additional details.

    Workaround:

If I delete the task notification e-mail that I receive from sharepoint (either on the mobile device or in my Outlook client) then the error is no longer present and mail synchronizes properly. But if the task notification e-mail is in the inbox, the phone won't sync. Also, I am synchronizing using Microsoft's Full Push through a 3G wireless network. And just to be more specific, the task notification that I receive from Sharepoint is an e-mail, it is not an outlook task item. So it doesn't act like a regular calendar or task notification, it is just an e-mail with https:// links in it.

    Hardware:

My phone is an HTC Touch Diamond, I was able to reproduce the error or an HTC S620 and a Samsung Jack. All of them are running Windows Mobile 6.1 and experience the exact same error message "Error Synchronizing".

    Troubleshooting:

Aside from finding the work around of deleting the task notification, I haven't been able to do a whole lot of troubleshooting. Removing and re-adding the exchange sync profile also fixes the issue, until you receive a new task notification.

I've read that SSL certificates that are non-windows mobile compliant can cause some of these problems. I am able to log into the https:// site for OMA and for Sharepoint on my mobile browser without having any errors or warnings. I am even able to follow the https:// links the task notification e-mail without any issues althrough a logon is required.

There are no updates available for my mobile handheld. The error is reproducable on different hardware. My exchange server sees the OMA connection and doesn't generate any errors or warnings in the event log.

Questions for the community at large:

Does anyone else run a corporate environment with Exchange and Sharepoint? Has anyone run into the same synchronization issues?

Do you think the errors reside in my Windows Mobile phone or on the Sharepoint reporting side?

Any comments or paths for troubleshooting would be most helpful.

    -Thanks,

    -Al
