Changes don't sync with Samsung Omnia
- I use Windows XP SP3 and Outlook 2007 and have a Samsung Omnia. I don't use an exchange server and I only use Outlook as a gateway to sync - I do not use it for email. Since upgrading to SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5 my phone doesn't sync properly. Whenever I deselect and select contacts - it will sync but then I constantly have to reset my phone settings and speed dial, etc on my phone. Shouldn't have to do this.
If I put a new contact in Outlook or my phone, it syncs both ways. If I put a note within an existing contact in Outlook or phone, it doesn't sync the change.
Already read your forums and tried everything (deleting partnerships on device & laptop, uninstall & reinstall Activesync from both disk and online, hard reset of device) They will work for the first time but then changes do not get synced again.
解答
- Did you try to delete your partnetships on your device and computer, restart computer and restart device. Now start a new partneship.
See if these steps will solve it. I can't easily check it since I sync directly to the exchange server.

- So new contacts will allow you to add a note and it will sync. If you go back in and edit the note a day later, will it sync the change?
http://experiencemobility.net http://mobilitysite.com - No it will not. Only if I uncheck contacts on the laptop or the phone and re-sync all over again.
- I'm not sure why this occuring. Johan has an Omnia so I will forward this thread to him. Maybe he has some advice for you.

Thanks, Jack and Johan, for responding.
latingirl - Please Unmark as Answered if your issue is still outstanding. The MVPs have responded and we can still provide additional information and tips when you come back to this thread with more information.- I have tried that numerous times and everytime it will sync properly. Then when a change is made it won't take so I have to delete and reset all over again. Too much of a hassle to do that over and over again. I have tried transferring one item at a time (contacts, calendar) but same thing happens.
- It might be interesting to try disabling Advanced Network Functionality to see if that might possibly trigger the sync. If it does not work, then change it back.
Go to Start > Settings
Go to the 'Connections' tab at the bottom
Open USB to PC
Uncheck the "Enable advanced network functionality" checkbox
Click "ok" in the top right corner.

- I tried that previously. Didn't work
- Hmmm, not quite sure what to advise latingirl. If it were mine, based upon what you have already tried, I would probably consider doing a Hard Reset and starting "fresh" to see if there is a difference. It is worth considering....

http://www.mobilitysite.com - Actually did that as well. It takes perfectly the first time with all data transferring but then that is it. Changes don't sync.
- Can you test it out on a different PC to see if the issue persists?

http://www.mobilitysite.com - No I can't. My database and Outlook is on my laptop only
- Interesting things are happening. When I update the calender on my PC and then sync the phone, everything works fine. However, when I make a note it doesn't. When I go back into outlook and then test one and resync, sometimes it triggers and updates just that "sample contact". I have tried running the scan on Outlook and it found nothing wrong. Like I said, I make 70-80 changes per day and I have about 1000 contacts so unchecking contact is not the best solution.

Too bad. Sometimes being able to do that tells you if the issue is with the deviec or the PC.

http://www.mobilitysite.com- I'm on the road latingirl but I will try to look for additional possibilities to try when I arrive at my destination tonight. There are other folks that have had a similar issue with notes on Contacts not being updated. I will try to see if someone found a resolution.

http://www.mobilitysite.com - Linley posted this sometime back latingirl. See if it helps:
By default, there is a limit on notes entries in Contacts and Calendars and that is 5k.
Use the reg key below to increase the size to 20kb. However, you do this at your risk.
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Activesync\. Set the value for BodyTruncation to 20480.
Please check the reg key above on your device and let me know what's the default value.
You will need to download a registry editor to your device. Here's a link to a free one:

- How do I check it from the device?
- Jack, I loaded the registry editor and checked the settings. It was set for 5120. I changed it to 20480 and did a soft reset of the device. Still no luck.
- OK, well it was worth trying. I might reset it back the wasy it was if you want to have it in its "original state".
Before I replied to this post, I spent some time again this morning looking for possible reasons but have not found any latingirl. I'll look again this afternoon to see if I can find anything.
I still wish you had access to a second PC that you could "test" sync with and try a few tests back and forth. The issue is not on your device (IMHO) and doing a test might confirm that.

http://www.mobilitysite.com - Jack -
I have a new Omnia with the same issue. My issue is that it will only synch on the first time synch. I have tried the following:
Sync to a 2nd PC - same issue.
Hard reset and reinstalltion of AS - synchs fine first time but never again after that.
I have disabled "advanced network settings"
I have deleted partnerships on both the device and PC. I have done so doing one and not the other as well as both.
Downgraded Outlook to 2003 - same result.
I have also tried just about everything I can find for support code 86000107, this is the support code that appears under "View Status" after a synch.
I have also spoke with Verizon who continues to blame my system for the error. I don't accept that answer. I have tried this synch on 5 PCs and would have to have the worst luck in the world to have all 5 systems be fubar. Also, those 5 were all at different locations so they had different configurations. I thought maybe it was something within my network or local configuration causing the issue. - Active sync is weird and is our worst nightmare. Every user problem is different compared to others. Most problems are related on the machine with conflicting other unidentified programs.
At all you could look into investing in to a online exchange account. If you have unlimited data this sync process is so smooth compared to active sync and and WMDC

Nor do I RenoITguy!
I wish I had an absolute resolution for you but I do not. I have again asked for help on this issue. If I get a reply, I will post it here.

http://www.mobilitysite.comThis is not likely an absolute resolution either but I wonder if some of these older 86000107 error troubleshooting tips from the Microsoft KnowledgeBase (KB) might help?

http://www.WindowsMobile.com/TotalAccess- Latingirl,
Try creating a new Outlook profile and adding a couple of test contacts and see if those sync to your device. Before testing, even though you've already done this, delete your partnerships on the device and on the desktop. Then archive your mail file.
I wonder if there is something corrupt in your Outlook profile that is preventing the sync? This certainly would explain you being able to sync a contact from your device to your desktop, but not have the sync engine notice that a contact had changed on the desktop - and thus not sync it to the device.
We also see this on occasion when people are running software that uses ActiveSync to accomplish something, and this behaviour surfaces when the sync provider gets confused.
Let us know if this works for you please - There is another possibility - which is an item that you are sync'ing causes this problem. If all of the contacts, tasks, etc that you sync have been backed up to your device, then you may want to deselect all of the items that you are sync'ing, ok out and sync. This should remove them from your device. Then add the types of info that you are sync'ing back 1 by 1 to see if the problem surfaces after a particular type - e.g. tasks, contacts, calendar...
