2 Problems. Windows Update, and write protected SD card.
2 Problems. Windows Update, and write protected SD card.
- I did not see any threads for this problem while searching the forum so I'm going to post it here.
I have an ASUS MyPal A626 Pocket PC. The Windows info is shown as:
Windows Mobile 6 Classic
CE OS 5.2.1239 (Build 17746.0.2.4)
The problem I am having is with Windows Update. When I press the "Check Now" button the device shows a status bar with 3 squares moving across it, then gives me this error:
"Connection to update server was not availible. Check your data connections settings and ensure the device date and time are correct."
I have checked all my connection settings, Internet Explorer and Live Messenger both work and can access the Internet. The lights on the WI-FI router also blink when I press the "Check Now" button in Windows Update showing activity. I have also set the PDA to the proper time. So I am stummped. How can I get Windows Update to work?
I now have another problem. The SD Card I use with my digital video camera and laptop computer. I have used it several times with the PDA , But it has now become write protected to the laptop and camera, It only lets me read/write in Windows Mobile on the PDA. :(- 已編輯cybergeeker 2009年7月4日 上午 07:27

解答
- cybergeeker,
In regards to your windows mobile updates not working, this is a universal issue. Some believe it is a problem with the update server no longer taking requests, others think it is a problem with the Windows Mobile implementation of Windows Upate. Either way this thread seems to be the place with the most information.

watch that one for more. Sadly there is nothing more that can be done about it right now...
Cheers,

- Same "connection to update server was not available error..." here, on a new Palm Treo 500 with Windows Mobile 6 Standard
GPRS browsing works fine though. All settings confirmed correct by GPRS provider. - Think I found out how to fix the SD card problem. Seems to be working now.
Please post an update on the solution so others with the same issue have a solution.

I read on another site that when a secure SD card starts acting write-protected when Write Protection is off, the best way to fix it is to set the W/P slider to the center and it will act normal again.
I still can't figure out how to get Windows Update to work. :(- I just wanted to jump in here and report the same problem on my VX-6800 HTC Mogul operating on Mobile 6 through Verizon. Updates says it cannot connect and the info reports there may be a time problem. I have installed the daylight savings time update through the Mobile website but that did not help.
Peter Erb Walla Walla WA - Peter_Erb, I think you mean the XV6800? the VX is an LG phone I'm pretty sure, but in any case, I get the same error. I think I actually saw a whole thread on here about this error, it seems to have started around July 15th from what people said on there. I wouldn't worry about the problem, it is obviously not on the phone side, and is more likely a microsoft problem.

- AllenJh has forwarded you to the right thread to address your issue around Windows Update.
Regarding your problem with your SD Card - sounds like it may need to be formatted again to clean up any corruption. Formatting it as FAT should resolve your issue.
